Students celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas at Notre Dame School with festive shirts and Santa hats.
Notre Dame Christmas at Jesuit Dallas
Every year, Jesuit Dallas hosts a Christmas Dance for our upper school students and our alums. It is one the most anticipated events of the year. Due to COVID, Jesuit came up with an alternative celebration - Notre Dame Christmas at Jesuit, a drive-thru car party!
Jesuit students organized and decorated a drive-thru route around the campus with 8 different stations - hot cocoa, Christmas carols, take home crafts, dance parties with DJ Dottie, limbo contests, fake snow, and even Santa. Students stayed in their cars and the cars went from station to station.
Over 140 cars went through the route on Saturday, December 12, from 5:30-7:30pm. It was a wonderful experience for everyone! Thank you to our friends at Jesuit Dallas for making Notre Dame spirits bright!
The end of an unforgettable year!
The Christmas season at Notre Dame School is always a busy and happy time. While this year has been a bit different, we continue to uphold the traditions that make this time of year so special. The Advent wreath is up, and we pray daily as we prepare our hearts for the birth of our Lord. Santa will once again be delivering gifts to every student and our Christmas program will be virtual. We continue to be blessed by the tremendous generosity of our families and friends in the community. Their support has helped us to address the financial challenges brought on by the pandemic.
Although we are masked and can’t see the smiles on the faces of our students, we can see their bright eyes, which it is often said, are “windows to the soul”. Despite the masks and social distance protocols there is still joy to be felt in the halls of Notre Dame. The little acts of kindness that we see on display daily make such a difference and fill our need for connectedness.
This year holds a bit of nostalgia for me as I look toward my retirement at the end of this school year. The last 35 years have brought me such joy. My life has been so enriched by the lessons learned from our students and their families. I have said many times that I believe that our students have the pipeline to God. They have been sent to teach us very important life lessons in love, compassion, faith and tenacity. I hope that I have made a difference in the lives of our students with developmental disabilities, for I know that they have made a difference in mine.
Wishing you the peace of Christ throughout this season,
Principal - Notre Dame School of Dallas
An Affair of the Heart 2020 - A Virtual Event
THANK YOU to our many supporters who participated in the 2020 An Affair of the Heart. Like so many other non-profits, we made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person event and opt for an on-line version. With the leadership of our amazing Event Chairs - Jane Martin and Tricia Johnson - our gala was a huge success! We are thrilled to announce that we raised over $435,000.
We honored our principal, Theresa Francis, for her 35 years of leadership at Notre Dame School. Many of you recognized Mrs. Francis with scholarship gifts in her name and we are so thankful. These scholarship gifts are vital to our mission of educating students with developmental disabilities. Our guests purchased "Parties in a Box" and participated in the auction safely from their homes. Our virtual program, hosted by NDS alum, Jacob Kunko, had over 500 viewers from across the nation. Jacob is a shining example of our NDS motto - No limits. Just possibilities.
A huge THANK YOU to our Event Committee, comprised of mothers of Jesuit, Ursuline and St. Rita, for jumping in and creating an exciting silent auction. We are so grateful for your time, energy and creativity!
BRINKS Home Security brought lots of Christmas Cheer to the Lower School by giving gift cards to each student. Thank you BRINKS for your continued support of Notre Dame School. We are so grateful!
Thank you for considering Notre Dame School in your year-end giving! Make your gift on-line here. We hope you enjoy a very merry Christmas!
Join us for a Virtual Open House for parents who are interested in learning more about the opportunities available at our school. We are a small private school located in the Uptown area of Dallas that exclusively educates students, ages 6 to 22, with developmental disabilities. We are excited to take you (virtually) down our hallways and discuss our curriculum and exceptional technology program. With our small class sizes, 10 students and 2 teachers, we are able to provide a safe and effective special education program unlike any other in Dallas.
We are currently accepting applications for the 2021-22 school year.
