3. New Lightweight dates (also more details at www.impossible.org.uk )

Leeds Light Night

The first outing for our new steam punk face recognition camera and 'WingFace' animations. The camera resembles an early hand-crank film camera that hides wireless webcam technology taking a series of face capture images of each participant that appear a few minutes later on the globe. The facial images are animated in groups, becoming cherubs fluttering amidst a range of different video backgrounds.

Ilkley Literature Festival

A lovely dark spot by the playhouse and a chance to see the Wingfaces in Ilkley, as well as a new Twitter Poetry feature. This alternates text from short poems written by the festival poet in residence and live tweets that can feature any specified hashtag.

Berlin Festival of Light

For twelve nights Lightweight became a key feature of the city wide Festival of Light at the heart of the German capital, and its only participatory artwork. We delighted scores of people - some participants, some just spectators - and became what felt like the most photographed installation of all 68 attractions. Watch the video here >

Blinc Digital Arts festival, Conwy

Turing-life Featuring another new piece made just for this event. 'Life' celebrates the contributions of innovative computer thinker Alan Turing by adapting the 'Game Of Life' , now starting from portraits taken with our camera. Also showing six short films specially made by local artists amidst our other programme. We even featured on BBC national news > when this innovative festival was covered.

Sheffield Fright Night

LW-sheffield Yet another first: this time people were invited to take a special seat to consult the giant clairvoyant crystal ball at Britain's largest Halloween event. We beamed out the face of a hidden performer around the globe who was able to offer live answers both mysterious and comic to any question asked. "Ask me a question, for I am a Medium - or at least that's what it says in my knickers" one of my favourite lines.

Ellesmere Port Boat Museum

The National Waterways Museum presented a promenade performance using locations around the site, and Lightweight showed the ghosts of the murdered victims confronting the perpetrator as the denouement of the show. After the performance we showed all the audience as Wingfaces.

Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge

LW-Cambridge Part of the Festival of Ideas and the launch for Thresholds, an innovative project creating 10 poets-in-residence at  different museums in Cambridge. Glowing all evening in the grand portico, Lightweight combined museum artefacts with poetry to make the project's ambition visible, and our Wingface feature added a sense of engagement and fun.
