Welcome to GracePoint Church, where we are committed to helping others take their next steps toward knowing and serving a holy God of grace and truth.

Have you ever eaten at one of those high-end restaurants where you are handed a menu, but there are no actual prices beside the food choices? I can only think of two of those rare cases in my own life, but I assure you it was disconcerting. I tried to act cool as if this was normal for me, but my mind was puzzled. “How do I know what I want if I don’t know how much it costs”?

The remembrance of our Lord’s passion and resurrection in just a few weeks is a good time to remember that our Lord Jesus willingly accepted the price of his own innocent suffering and death for the incredibly, unthinkably large price-tag of our sins.  (2 Corinthians 5:21 – “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God”).  Christ died for the sins of those of us who would not be born for thousands of years, but for whom God had loving foreknowledge.

How much does it cost to have the forgiveness of our sins or to have eternal hope of our souls? Well, simply take a look at the cross. (John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but will have eternal life.”)

Perhaps it is more appropriate to view the cross not merely as a piece of jewelry or even as a religious fixture that we often see in our Worship Center or on our property, BUT RATHER as a price tag of the amount God was willing to pay to lovingly claim us back from sin.

That truth should be a primary motivation for taking our next steps toward knowing and serving God this next week.

From a Shepherd’s Heart,
Pastor Perry Kallis
