AID TO LEBANON
Besides the 150 people killed in the recent explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, more than 5000 are injured and 300,000 are homeless. Thousands of buildings are damaged. Lebanon was already facing massive challenges before the explosion, with one in every three people in the country a refugee from neighboring Syria, 50% of the population living below the poverty line, and Covid-19.
The GracePoint Missions Team has made a $1000 donation to LSESD (Lebanese Society for Social and Educational Development), an organization with Baptist roots and run by Lebanese Christians. Their goal is to empower the Lebanese church to minister to the vulnerable and marginalized and to build bridges with local communities. Two important ministries are Beirut Baptist School, with 90% of students from Muslim families, and the Gateway Bookshop.
