A record $95,000 to be awarded in June 2023!

Because YOU helped spread the word to family, friends, colleagues and neighbors, Impact Las Vegas ended 2022 with 95 members. That means our 2023 Grant Award to a high-impact nonprofit will total $95,000! What a wonderful way to celebrate our 10 years of grant-making!

24 new members joined us this past calendar year, plus 71 members renewed. Thanks to all for your generosity and commitment to community!

Impact Las Vegas brings together women who donate at least $1,000 each year by December 31. One-hundred percent of these donations become an annual grant that is awarded to an outstanding Southern Nevada nonprofit serving the community in one of five focus areas:  Culture, Education, Environment, Family, or Health & Wellness.

Completing our Letter of Inquiry form (LOI) is the first step in our Grant Application process, which is now underway. The deadline for nonprofits to submit the Letter of Inquiry form and all required attachments as one combined submittal is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1. The winning nonprofit will be named at our annual meeting on June 3.

In between is an intensive process involving interested nonprofits and Impact  members. Our member volunteers review the letters, narrowing the field to 16 worthy organizations we want to invite to submit a full Grant Application. Members participate in semi-finalist site visits, and recommend the finalists.

For a detailed description of our guidelines, eligibility and process, go to the Grants page on our website.

Our Impact -- Celebrating Our Grant Partners

To help us celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary, we will be featuring one of our Grant Award recipients each month in our newsletter. Our partners are the best proof of our impact and the value our members make in our community.
This month, we celebrate our 2018 Grant Partner.

Girls On the Run, Las Vegas - $35,000 Grant

Girls on the Run teaches third- through eighth-graders social-emotional skills through an after-school program that teaches goal setting, stress-management, and other life lessons. Running is incorporated gradually qnd there’s always time for processing feelings. The standard registration includes the materials for all sessions, healthy snacks, T-shirt, water bottle, and Girls on the Run 5k entry.  The $35,000 Impact Las Vegas grant allowed GOTR LV to expand their program.
  • 175 girls from 22 schools located in high-poverty, high-risk areas received full scholarships.
  • 172 of them went on to complete the program, 98% rate of participant completion success.
  • 168 girls ran in the celebratory 5K on May 5th at UNLV, a 96% success rate.
  • 417 girls total completed the GOTR 5k celebration (95% success rate), over 40% were from sites sponsored by this Grant.
Let's hear directly from Kate McLaughlin,  Executive Director, of Girls On the Run, Las Vegas:

"Girls on the Run Las Vegas works to empower girls throughout Vegas Valley and we can only do so with the support of partners like Impact Las Vegas! In 2018, your grant of $35,000 empowered 175 girls to participate in our program, find their strong, and complete their celebratory 5K, proving to themselves and everyone around them, that they can accomplish big goals.
"But it did more than that. As a small organization, every dollar donated enables us to grow, creating greater awareness of our organization and reaching more girls. In 2017-18, we served 614 girls. This year, we’ll serve more than twice that number. We’ll also be piloting a Camp GOTR over Spring Break, a virtual version of Girls on the Run for the girls in rural Nevada who can’t participate in our traditional program, and Parent Run Club, a piggyback program that empowers parents in low-income communities to train alongside their girls for the 5K and find their own strong. Every step forward is only possible because of the support we’ve received in years past, and the ongoing support of women like those in Impact Las Vegas, whether through funding, volunteering, or simply spreading the word. On behalf of everyone at Girls on the Run Las Vegas, thank you!"

Volunteering with Girls On The Run!

We had a blast!
Congratulations to our 2018 Grant Award recipient, Girls On the Run, Las Vegas for a fantastic 5k event on Saturday, December 3rd! We had so much fun cheering on the more than 600 girls and their buddies as they topped off their season with a great celebration!  Thank you to members Maggie Allred, Dottie Dincecco, Nancy Heavey, and Maureen Romito, for volunteering to help out!

Member Spotlight

Diana Morgan

Diana has been a member with Impact Las Vegas since our 2018/2019 grant year and has renewed for 2022/2023!

Why did you join Impact Las Vegas?  What prompted you to become a Member?
--Impact Giving leverages small gifts into one much larger one, which means I get to be part of something transformational for my community. I've always liked the concept of Giving Circles or Impact Giving. And after meeting with Founder Maureen Romito and learning about Impact Las Vegas, joining was an easy decision!

What do you enjoy the most about being a member?
Impact Las Vegas gives me the opportunity to participate in Impact Giving on my terms. I can give financially, but right now I can't give time. Because Impact members are at all stages of life, there are others who can give the time needed for the community grant process. I'm so grateful to these members and I fully expect to add time to my membership participation as soon as life allows!

What brings you joy and tell us a little about why?
--Joy comes in so many forms: a hot cup of tea, a walk in nature, completing a crossword puzzle, the baby Mexican Fencepost cactus growing in my front yard, puppies, and knitting! This year for my birthday, my friend gave me a wooden spoon. The bowl of this spoon is a heart. My friend knows I love to cook and I love a good spoon. Now every time I use that wooden heart spoon I smile and think of her. I do my little Happy Dance and my heart fills with gratitude for my friend. The spoon, a small thing, represents a big thing: love. Receiving and giving love are inherently joyful. And when a very good spoon is involved, it's even better!
