Profession of Faith

Winston (jim) Clarke came in through Profession of Faith in Cornerstone SDA church on January 11, 2020. Standing in with him as mentors Joe & Margaret Slawter.

Jim had been attending the Cornerstone Adventist church for 19 years, he was convinced about the Sabbath through his connection with the 7th day Pentecostal church, but he was able to accept all the Adventist doctrine and beliefs recently when he approached the pastor during Pr Ken's and Pr Norm's "Keys to Healthy Relationships" seminar on Nov. 22-30, 2019.

A Day to Celebrate

Sabbath, September 28, was a special high day at the Penticton Seventh-day church, with a baptism, communion service, and Agape Feast.

Hope White, a retired nurse, was searching for a new church as with her past two religious experiences she felt she was drifting away from God, rather than moving closer. She was looking for a church that was Christ-based and had a regular Bible study. She also looked for one with a strong fellowship component, because she wanted and needed a church family.

Though she did not do any research on her 2 previous churches, she knew she should this time.  What she found on the Seventh-day Adventist Church web site impressed her.  A world- wide church with millions of members that was Christ-based, had regular Bible studies, plus a focus on family, health, education & humanitarian development and aid. She had already benefitted from the church-sponsored CHIP program and spent some time at Silver Hills, so she had no hesitation checking out the church services.

As Hope attended Sabbath School, church, and the fellowship lunches, she was delighted to find she already had friends in the congregation. Besides the CHIP director and her helpers, there were several members with whom she had volunteered at the local Soupateria. The church seemed to be exactly what she was looking for, so after studies with Pastor Greg Wellman, she asked for baptism. Hope had previously suffered from high blood pressure that was difficult to control, but now she said she felt healing and peace.

Just before she was baptized, Hope turned to the congregation and said, “Thank you to all the church members who have been so kind, loving & supportive since I started attending here, and thank you to all my friends who are here to support me and share this special day with me”
