Remembrance Day Message:

Dear British Columbia Conference Members:

I kindly invite you to stop for a few moments during this long weekend holiday. I would suggest that this should be a time for reflection and gratitude as we consider and honour those who gave their lives for the freedom that we experience in our great nation. They paid the ultimate price for us to enjoy peace! This is a small depiction of the deliverance that our Saviour has accomplished for us by His sacrificial death for our eternal salvation. (John 3:16-17)

May God bless all of us!

In His Service,

Wesley Torres, D.Min.

Canadian Prayer Convention:
"The Power of Prayer"

Canadian Union Wide Prayer Convention and Workshop "The Power of Prayer" in Montreal and hosted by Quebec conference.

November 1st and 2nd saw variety of English and French speaking participants gather in Montreal Filipino SDA Church that hosted this inspiring event. Members from other Montreal churches were invited and some came from the city of Ottawa. We saw a great blend of ethnicity both English and French speaking. All seminars were translate both ways depending on the speaker. Prayer coordinators from 6 Canadian conferences attended.

BC conference was represented by prayer coordinator for BC conference pastor Karel Samek and also a regional coordinator for the northern BC Brankica Sremac.

There were 6 speakers - one from each conference. Event was enriched by inspiring special musical numbers, Filipino choir and of course tasty healthy meals. On Sabbath afternoon two by two teams, each comprising of one English and one French speaking person went out praying for the neighborhood people, offering GLOW tracts and offering prayer to people to which number of individuals responded positively. Several good contacts were established while support teams prayed inside of the church. Final Sabbath evening anointing service was a great finale of very spiritual event. Goals of this event was to encourage and inspire every church, every family and every member to become "a house of prayer" for all people.

Church in the Valley's Extreme Home Repair Ministry Receives Nomination From Community

For 16 years the Acts of Kindness Extreme Home Repair Ministry based out of Church in the Valley has renovated worthy recipients' homes in the Township of Langley. Fortunate individuals who are unable to repair and maintain their homes get an act of kindness from our team and receive the renovation completely free of charge. Our mission Statement is: Repairing homes; restoring lives. The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce nominated AOK's Extreme Home Repair to possibly receive an award at their 23rd Annual Business Excellence Awards evening in the category of "Community Impact - Non-profit". The awards banquet was held on October 24 in a large banquet hall at Cascades Convention Center in downtown Langley. Pastor Dauncey along with Lorne Brownmiller and Garth Dauncey attended the beautiful gala and were able to connect with other businesses and non-profit organizations from their local community. Church in the Valley is honoured the Township of Langley recognizes the ongoing and faithful work which Extreme Home Repair conducts in their community.

The evening was attended by 35 people ranging in age from 9 to seniors who gathered information for a healthier future and a hope of long-term change to symptoms plaguing them.

"The Menace of Biotechnology"

The Prince George church hosted a three-part series "The Menace of Biotechnology" on October 11-12th with Dr. Tomislav Terzin, prof. at Alberta University, Edmonton, as a speaker.

Dr Terzin, specialist in genetics, developmental biology, molecular biology of the genetics and zoology of invertebrates, explained scientific and ethical aspects of subjects like genetically edited human babies, stem-cells human cloning and GMO. The presentations helped the audience to understand various scientific issues in the light of the Bible and Christian ethics and strengthened their personal faith in the Creator.
Health Team Initiative:
McCallum Physiotherapy

McCallum Physiotherapy was the guest this month for our Health Team initiative, bringing Brent Hartman and Nasan Mohajeri to spend the evening with us. We were given the opportunity to learn about important health concerns throughout the human lifespan from infancy to the elder years.  Focusing specifically on the importance of posture and its relationship to optimal function. Learning to understand correct posture and principles of physiotherapy can improve quality of life, health, disease prevention, and declining function as we age. Utilizing their clinical knowledge and experience in treating complex injuries across all age groups they also took the time to dispel numerous myths and short-term band aid ideas that we have been taught.  Instead of finding a solution often short-term band aids are applied to situations where we are creating further problems for our bodies.

The evening was attended by 35 people ranging in age from 9 to seniors who gathered information for a healthier future and a hope of long-term change to symptoms plaguing them.
