Press Release

Dear BC Conference Constituency Family:
Please find attached the SDACC BOD News release.

Elder Torres has informed the BC Conference Board of Directors (BOD) that he, after much prayer and consideration, together with his family, has decided to accept the call extended to him by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada (SDACC) BOD to serve as the SDACC Vice-President for Administration / Executive Secretary. He then added, “I would like to thank the Lord for the privilege He has given me (and my family) to serve the BC Conference for nearly ten years in different capacities. It has been an honour and a joy to be of service to God and His church in this Conference! My family and I were (are) truly blessed by the friendships that we have made and enjoyed while ministering in this amazing, diverse, and beautiful field. God blessed our efforts as we worked with our brothers and sisters in our churches, schools, Camp Hope, and at the office. Yes, all that we accomplished together God’s Cause was for His Name’s glory, only.”
It was discussed with the SDACC leadership that Elder Torres will remain in the role he is currently serving for a little while until a new person is selected to take “the mantle”. Elder Torres says, “My family and I will be praying for a God appointed human leader to continue His work and take it to a higher level here in our Conference. The BC Conference will always have a special place in the Torres’ hearts!”
The Torres kindly requests our BC Conference Constituency family to keep them in prayer during this transition for them as Elder Torres takes his new responsibilities in the Lord’s vineyard.
Thank you.

New Pastors

Pastor Matthew Reyes was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. For 7 years he was a missionary evangelist and a discipleship teacher in the Philippines before returning to Canada. He enjoyed the roles of Youth Pastor of the Vancouver Filipino Main Church and the Church Plant Pastor of Inspire Ministries. He attended the University of British Columbia and Burman University, Alberta before accepting the call to Whitehorse Church, Yukon. Matthew loves the outdoors, hiking and biking with youth and young adults, meeting new people and building relationships. His burden is to empower people to share Jesus while his purpose is to redeem the time and to bear much fruit for His glory.

Pastor Milenko Tanurdzic was born in Serbia and graduated from Belgrade Theological Seminary, Serbia, where he met his wife, Aleksandra. In 2007, upon accepting the call from the Illinois Conference, they moved to the United States where Milenko served as pastor for the Yugoslavian and Lakeview churches in Chicago. He also hosted the radio program, Paths of Hope. Milenko’s passion is in the areas of biblical spirituality and discipleship, preaching and teaching (training members), and media ministry. He enjoys poetry and literature and numerous outdoor activities especially fly fishing, hiking and camping. Aleksandra serves as a commissioned and endorsed Chaplain Manager of Pastoral Care at AMITA Health Adventist Hospitals in Chicago. Their daughter, Rebeka, is a nursing student at Walla Walla University, WA.

Pastor Sima Sremac was born in Serbia and graduated from Newbold College Theology Seminary, United Kingdom. In 2001, he became the pastor for the Yugoslavian and Richmond Churches in Vancouver, BC. In the spring of 2010, he accepted a call to Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan (part of the Euro-Asia Division). He and his wife, Brankica, worked for 6 years in the Middle East and North Africa Union Mission and 3 years in Turkey. Sima says, “Although we found life in the mission field and the ministry pretty challenging, we have experienced God’s amazing presence, His daily guidance and His abundance of blessings in our lives.” Sima and Brankica have 3 children and live in Prince George.
