A new plan to ‘Grow and Prosper Corangamite’ will bring together economic development, tourism, arts and culture and events and festivals strategies.

Council staff will work with the community and industry sectors to determine exactly what businesses, artists and other stakeholders aspire to and how we can make it happen. The Framework will contain specific action plans for six key areas:
  • the visitor economy
  • creative industries
  • circular economy
  • events and festivals
  • population attraction and retention and
  • specific industry sectors (agriculture, manufacturing, building, health, education, small business, retail etc).
The framework will be looking at what exists and trends that are affecting each key area, use real time data to prepare for risks and ascertain a longer-term outlook to focus on future growth, adaptation and sustainability.

We are commencing the new plan with a dinner event, Thursday 17 November 2022, featuring World Champion Olympic and Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Anna Meares OAM. This event will be followed by workshops and a breakfast on Wednesday 7 December, with The Demographics Group Director and Co-founder Simon Kuestenmacher.

Stay up to date with Grow and Prosper Corangamite progress and events on council's website and socials.

Corangamite Shire is preparing a Masterplan to transform 45 hectares of industrial land situated on Old Geelong Road into a high-quality business park that will support local industrial sectors and encourage new business to the Shire.
The Camperdown Production Precinct Masterplan will seek to:
  • Provide adequate land that is ‘development ready’ to meet future requirements for expanding businesses.
  • Protect landscape and environmental values, as well as Traditional Cultural and European heritage values surrounding the site.
  • Provide landscaping and built form guidelines that enhance the visual amenity of the site.
  • Incorporate water management systems and sustainable re-use, as well as support renewable energy options.
  • Acknowledge the importance of existing businesses, as well as the dairy farming industry.
  • Support job creation and a diverse economy in the Shire.
  • Improve links between the precinct and Camperdown town centre.
We invite residents to provide feedback on a Background and Technical Report via an online survey before the first draft of the Masterplan is finalised in February. The report is available at Camperdown Production Precinct Masterplan - Corangamite Shire or available in hardcopy at the Civic Centre, Camperdown.
Residents can attend an Information Session Wednesday 9 November, 7 pm at the Killara Centre, Camperdown.
A Drop-In Session will also be held Thursday 10 November, 8:30 am-11 am in front of the Newsagency on Manifold Street.
Friday 25 November 2022, 10am-2pm
Killara Centre, 210-212 Manifold Street, Camperdown

Food and Fibre Great South Coast (FFGSC) and Agriculture Victoria invite local producers from across southwest Victoria to participate in a Drought Resilience Planning Workshop.

The purpose of the workshop is to ensure strong producer insights are considered in the development of a Drought Resilience Plan for the Great South Coast Region.
The development of this plan is part of the Regional Drought Resilience Planning (RDRP) program of the Commonwealth Government’s Future Drought Fund.
The plans will identify actions to prepare for future droughts, focusing on the agricultural sector and allied industries and be led by communities and developed through partnerships of local governments, regional organisations, community organisations and industry.

On Australia Day, 26 January each year, we publicly recognise the exceptional contributions, hard work and determination of people who make a positive difference within Corangamite Shire.

We have many champions in our Shire who do wonderful deeds in their community, who work quietly around our towns, drive kids to footy practice, deliver meals-on-wheels, perhaps volunteer with CFA or other community organisations or have just made a difference.  The Community Awards are an opportunity for these people and/or community organisations to be recognised for their contribution.

Nominations close 10 November 2022 at 5 pm.
