Congratulations To El Sereno Middle School Drumline

The El Sereno Middle School Drumline has made it to the American Drumline Association (ADLA) Finals competition after a long, tough season and qualifying last week at Semi Finals. At Semi Finals, ESMS came in 2nd place which was a great accomplishment for the students.
The Drumline would like to invite everyone this Saturday, April 27th to Long Beach City College (Gym) where the drumline will be competing for the title of ADLA Junior Division Champion.
Please come out and support the El Sereno Middle School Drumline - the ONLY LAUSD Middle School representing at ADLA!
Performance time is 12:30pm SHARP! The awards ceremony will be at 2:30pm after all the Junior Division is complete.
April Yappy Hour

"YAPPY HOURS" are hosted by The Friends of Hermon Dog Park and are held on the last Sunday of each month. Board Member Silvia has put together some great games to try out at Yappy Hour this month! The games include: Bowling, bead toss, can pyramid, ball toss, squeaker ball in a hay stack, and obstacle course. In addition to treats for you and your pets, "Yappy Hour" is the best time to get your dogs to socialize and for you to meet other area dog owners.

Dog and Cat Adoption Event

The Friends of Hermon Dog Park is co-sponsoring a Mother's Day adoption festival on the grounds of the North Central Shelter! The event is free and open to the public Adoption fees will be discounted to $83.50 for dogs and $50.50 for cats, with additional $25 discounts for the first 30 adoptions that day. Fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, and in the case of dogs, license.
At the even you will find live entertainment, educational pet demonstrations, food, games and a raffle - fun for the whole family! Also there will be a Microchip Clinic for dogs and cats that are already part of your family. Regular prices are just $25, but there will be a discount for the first 30 to get chipped that day to just $15. There will be booths with great information and giveaways from pet-related businesses, non-profit groups, and city organizations. For more information site, www.hermondogpark.com.
9th Annual Family Community Learning Faire

The El Sereno Healthy Start Project is proud to announce the 9th Annual Family Community Learning Faire. This year keynote speaker for the event will be Mr. Robert “Bobby” Lee Verdugo. Mr. Verdugo played a critical role in the 1968 East LA High School Walkouts.
This year they will be hosting 4 workshops which will be led by a panel of speakers that range in the topics of health, social, cultural and education. To end the festivities there will be musical entertainment provided by Las Cafeteras who will bring their Afro-Mexican Son Jarocho sound to El Sereno Middle School. In addition the Eastside Bike Club will be leading a community bike ride around El Sereno. A secure bike area will also be provided for those that want to arrive early.
Everyone is invited and encouraged to spread the word about the fair to others.

El Sereno Recreation Center is proud to announce registration for Summer Camp. This year camp activities will include art, games, sports, hikes, cooking, swimming, crafts, nature walks, field trips, and much more.
Registration $20 one-time
Camp $65 weekly
Extended Care $15 weekly (if needed)
Parent Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 29 at 6:30pm.
