Prevent Copper Wire Theft

You can help prevent the significant increase of Copper Wire thefts occurring in the City's street lighting system. This has caused a number of street lights not to function for a period of time. Call 9-1-1 immediately if you observe a wire theft in progress or see any suspicious activity around city street lights.

What to note if you see suspicious activity:

  • Is there a yellow Street Lighting maintenance vehicle on the street? The vehicle has a city seal, the words "Street Lighting" on the driver and passenger doors and the word "exempt" on its license plate.
  • Is there Street Lighting staff working on a streelight? They can be identified by their orange vest, hard hat and city identification. The Bureau of Street Lighting has contractors who install new lighting. The name of these companies would be identified on their vehicles.

Small Business Direct Install
Free Efficiency Upgrades for Your Business

The Small Business Direct Install (SBDI) Program is available to qualifying businesses whose average monthly electrical demand is 30 kilowatts (kW) or less. If you are interested in making your operation more energy and water efficient, LADWP can help.

How It Works:
A trained Energy Service Representative (ESR) will contact you and arrange a time to visit your business and evaluate your energy and water use. This free assessment will identify areas where you can save energy and water.

If you agree with the recommendations, a representative will have you sign an Authorization Form and schedule an appointment to install the equipment at a time most convenient to you. The installation of the recommended equipment will be done without significant interference to your normal business operation – so you can stay open!

Energy and Water Saving Measures Include
• Upgrades to energy efficient lighting system and lamps
• LED exit signs
• Pipe and water heater insulation
• Pre-rinse spray valves
• Low-flow showerheads
• Faucet aerators
• Low-flow toilets

Qualifications
Open to LADWP business electric customers, in good standing, in rate class A-1, whose average monthly electrical use is 30 kW or less. Customers who lease their business are eligible for program participation, but landlord permission is required.

How to Apply
Participation is easy. Everything including the assessment, energy-efficient products, and the installation are provided at
no cost to you! To signup, visit www.ladwp.com/sbdi or call 1- 877-714-1254.
