Vancouver's Costea Siblings Are Keeping It All In The Family With Three Joey Award Nominations  
Vancouver November 6, 2014 – This is an exciting time for the Costea family, as all three children are nominated for 2014 Joey Awards for acting. The oldest, 13-year-old actor Joshua Costea received a Joey Award nomination for his role in the film Bocce Boys. Joshua began acting at the age of 7 and has a long list of impressive accomplishments, including film directing. He has worked in television, film, viral video and live theatre. Joshua’s sister, 8-year-old actress Maia Costea is nominated for her role as the Moon Princess in A Hairy Tale.  Maia made her acting debut at the age of 5, playing the title role in the film Maia, named after her. That role earned her a Young Artist Award nomination in Hollywood in 2013.  Maia was also nominated for a Young Artist Award in Hollywood this year for her role as Gloria in Henry and Gloria, a Hansel and Gretel rendition. Youngest sister, actress Carla Costea, age 6, earned the nomination for her role in The Bill. Carla’s first leading role was in the film Molly, which is currently in post-production. All three Costea children are available for interviews and/or personal appearances upon request, and they are represented by Dean Osmon of Maijah Lewk (; 604.929.4092).
Thirteen-year-old Joshua appeared on an episode of the hit television action series, Arrow  and Level Up. Joshua won Best Actor in a Short Film at the Young Artist Awards in Hollywood this year for his role in Lord of the Guys. He also won the Screenwriting Award and Audience Award for Lord of the Guys at Vancouver’s Reel 2 Real International Film Festival and Best Children’s Film and runner-up for Outstanding Cast Performance Awards at the AOF International  Film Festival in California.

In the past, Joshua has received  Young Artist Award nominations in Hollywood for his leading role in Lucid (2013) and Best Actor in a Short Film for his leading role in Lemons and Lemonade (2012), which was selected for the Short Film Corner at Cannes International Film Festival in 2011. Joshua was runner-up for the Audience Award in the Bloodshots 2012 Film Race for his role in Lucid.

Joshua has been a Shoreline Actors Academy student for the past 3 years, being trained by Kirsten Clarkson, Julian LeBlanc and Michael Antonakos. Previously he trained at Railtown Actor Studio, Tarlington Training, First Step Actors and Biz Studio. In addition, is a martial artist, sword-fighter, model, plays piano, guitar and flute, has done voiceover acting, and has mastered different accents & dialects. Although she is only 8-years-old, Maia has had an impressive number of leading roles in a multitude of original films, including the following: Somewhere, Molly, Bedtime Stories, The Battle of the Yellow Fruit, Albert and Burst. She is currently working on a film called The King of the Playground. Maia played younger version of actress Genevieve Buechner in Mimi and Me. Maia was also in a promo documentary for UBC called The Search for Eureka and a commercial for Benjamin Moore painting. Maia currently studies acting at Biz Studio with Alison Araya and has also trained at Tarligton Training, Shoreline Actors Academy and First Step Actors. Six-year old Carla just starred in the film Plugged by UBC. She has also had supporting roles in The Dating Journal, The Battle of the Yellow Fruit and Albert. Carla appeared in a documentary for UBC called In Search for Eureka and was in a television commercial for MTI. In addition to her acting career, Carla has been a print model for Lona Couture and was also a principal for a Dell Computers print campaign.
