Penge Green Gym

Hello Green Gymers,

Thanks to all those who braved the cold this week to help out at Winsford Gardens. Welcome back to those we haven't seen for a few weeks and an especially warm welcome goes out to our new volunteer!

Despite the finger numbing cold, everyone knuckled down and made great progress on our circle seating area and natural play area. More posts for the seating area were concreted into their final positions, and we'll be ready in a week or so to fix into place the beautiful milled timber we have been preparing for the bench tops. The first balance beam has been constructed and is just awaiting a sand down and lick of preservative. And finally a team kept themselves warm by excavating rubble and improving the top layer of soil along the fence of the the Croydon Road entrance. Sadly we lost a few of the newly planted hedgerow trees in this are over the driest weeks of the summer, so we hope this soil improvement work will ensure the new trees planted next week have a better chance of survival.

Really great progress on our winter projects is being made but there is still tons to do over the next couple of months so do come down and join in!

Enjoy the snowy weekend!

Hedgelaying Workshops in Regents Park

The Conservation Volunteers are offering a great opportunity to learn the tradititonal skill of hedgelaying. We have free workshops running in Regents Park on weekdays and weekends in February. Spaces are limited and priority will go to those who can commit to attend all (or the majority) of the programme. Each workshop will run 10am to 4pm. Please find more details on the Camden webpage www.tcv.org.uk/camden
