Hello Green Gymers

The Sun Shines on Winsford Gardens Open Day

We can count our open day on Saturday 8th June as a great success.  Not only we were blessed with a beautiful warm, sunny day but the local community came out to support the gardens.  Many hadn't known the garden even existed even though they lived just around the corner and were surprised and delighted at the gardens tranquil beauty.  We had many comments on what a good job we were doing and questions about how they could get involved.

The children enjoyed filling the bug chalets and making them colourful.  The treasure hunt also went down very well for a second year running.

Chris, Marty and Dave manned the plant stall and fielded many tricky plant questions.
JJ, Gavin and Electra kept the visitors well fed and watered and nearly sold out of cakes.

With the combined sales of plants and refreshments we managed to raise over £280 for ongoing projects at Winsford Gardens.

What's Next at Winsford?

With summer in full swing the plants are really showing off, especially our Foxgloves that were planted last year and our wildflower meadow which has been completely taken over by Oxide daisies.

We continue to try and keep up with the weeds in all the beds and plant out all of the seedlings that we didn't sell at the Open Day.  Now is the time to come and enjoy Winsford Gardens in full bloom.
