Art auction and live music fundraiser

Where: Perth City Farm, East Perth
When: 6pm, Saturday 28th May

After raising over $25,000 for spinal cord injury (SCI), the art auction with a difference, Cord Fundraiser, has announced a must-attend event for both lovers of art and those who love to make a difference; Cord: Take A Seat. After a sold-out event last year, Cord will take up the lofty warehouse space at Perth City Farm (1 City Farm Place, East Perth) 6pm-late Saturday 28 May, showcasing over 25 local artists. Having generously donated their work for the public to bid on in the urban art auction of the year, all funds raised will go to Fiona Stanley Hospital’s Spinal Cord Injury Unit.

Take a seat is a combination of an urban art auction and a live music gig. There will be an exciting line up of artists and musicians as well as great raffle prizes to be won!

Aboriginal Alcohol and Drug Service is looking for a volunteer designer

My name is Sophie and I am the new Project Officer for the non for profit Social Investment WA, a collaboration of community organisations working together to reduce the huge incarceration rates of Aboriginal people, and to introduce a Social Investment framework to the Criminal Justice system here in WA, to build communities and rehabilitate people.

Last year, Central TAFE's Adv Diploma students helped on projects for Reconciliation WA and logo and branding projects, which we are very happy with!

We were hoping to offer an opportunity to a Graphic Design student at Central TAFE to volunteer with us for half a day a week, or one day a fortnight, until approximately the end of July, and help out with design and media. They would get the opportunity to learn online campaigning skills, as well as community engagement, and be directly involved with the launch of this important cause.
They would also be provided a written reference by myself as their supervisor, as well as the Chairpersons of the Social Investment Coalition, Daniel Morrison, CEO of Aboriginal Alcohol and Drug Service, and Glenda Kickett, of the Childhood Foundation.

The role would best be suited to a capable graphic design student, who has an interest or passion for social justice, First Australian issues, or campaigning.
