!MPACT News and In The News

Dear friends of !MPACT,

As the 2011-2012 school year draws to a close, !MPACT celebrates another milestone. We have served more high schools, driving schools, and hospital programs than we ever have in a single nine-month period.

Since September, we have presented !MPACT's Safe Teen Driving Program to teens and parents in forty-nine separate forums throughout Connecticut, and in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. We reached approximately 35,000 teens with our profound and personal stories and safety messages.

All this, at no charge to high schools. How do we do it? Through a committed group of volunteers, and with the support of people like you.

Take a moment to read some of the feedback we've received from students who attended !MPACT's Safe Teen Driving Program this year:

"Before the assembly, I didn't care. I drive without my seatbelt and speed. Now I want to be a lot more safe for not only myself, but for my family and the other drivers/passengers with/around me... The stories really made me open up my eyes and see that cars are serious."

"This was an amazing, powerful presentation that should be shown to as many people as possible. The statistics got me to think."

"The assembly was much more powerful to me than the mock crash. Actually seeing that woman still grieving was a big reality check...This experience has shocked and changed me. I promise I will be extremely careful driving now."

"Going to leave my phone in my purse...you may have saved my life."

"I won't be playing chicken in the car anymore with my sister."

"I usually don't relate to anyone in these assemblies, but I felt like I knew these people...This program has changed my behavior."

"I've been in cars with drunk, underaged, inexperienced drivers, and it won't happen again. Because of the assembly I have the strength to stop being a part of the behaviors I usually take part in."

"This program changed me. When I am driving with my friends I am really crazy. After seeing this, I won't drive with them."

"I think every teenager must see this because it really impacts your life and it's so important for kids to realize what happens. I would like to thank the presenters for giving us such a memorable presentation. I don't think I could realize it any better-- the dangers, the tragedy and horror of all this, if they didn't present to us today."

Did you know you can help !MPACT to advance its mission to protect young drivers/passengers AND have a great time while doing it? Consider participating in or donating to !MPACT's ONLY annual fundraiser, our upcoming 4th annual "Tee Off For Teen Driving Safety" golf tournament to be held at Blue Fox Run Golf Course in Avon, CT on Friday, July 27, 2012. WFSB's Scot Haney will join us again this year as MC, and in addition to the many great raffle and auction items, Key Hyundai has provided a 2012 Hyundai Veloster for the hole-in-one incentive. Click HERE for a registration form and more information.
