Scottish Cup Victory for Young Dundee Cricketers

The 2013 Scottish U15 Cup took place at Myreside on Sunday 11th August. This year saw Largo CC, Clydesdale CC, Grange CC and Forfarshire CC compete at the finals day.

Forfarshire booked their place in the final with an excellent win over Largo.  Superb bowling from Christian Robertson, Jack Hogarth and Blair Walker and unbeaten innings from Rory Johnstone and Christian Robertson saw the Broughty Ferry side ease into the Final.

The final saw the two strongest teams – Forfarshire and Grange – meet in what was a much anticipated match up. Forfarshire won the toss and decided to bat first.  The Forfarshire innings went along steadily with the team posting an excellent 137 off 20 overs. The best performers with the bat for Forfarshire were Rory Johnstone 43, Connor Wilson 27 not out and Cameron Walker 22 not out.

Brilliant bowling from Christian Robertson, 2 for 16, and Blair Walker, 2 for 14, and a superb 4 wickets in 5 balls for Jack Hogarth saw Grange fall short by 42 runs.

Forfarshire last won the Under 15 Scottish Cup in 1984 so nearly 30 years later it returns to Forthill.  Congratulations to everyone involved!!

Wicket, Flick It, Try It!!!!

Dundee Wanderers Hockey Club, Dundee High School FP Cricket Club & Dundee Eagles are coming together on Sunday 1 September 2013 to host the 'Wicket, Flick It, Try It' family fun day & Dalnacraig.

The event is free to attend and a great opportunity for all the family to come along and try a variety of sports & activities.

TeamGym Camp Success

A TeamGym Camp took place at the McTaggart Centre at the start of August with teams from across Scotland and England attending the week long camp which is also incorporated a coach education course in the evenings.

Lead Coach Jimmy Ekstedt plus 3 other coaches from Scandinavia provided their expertise throughout the week at a National Camp and a Regional Camp.

TeamGym is a team competition for men and women, which includes routines being performed on three pieces of apparatus: floor, trampette and a tumbling track.
TeamGym routines require effective teamwork, excellent technique and spectacular acrobatic elements. Training and competitions generate an excellent team spirit amongst gymnasts with routines providing great entertainment and spectacle for participants and spectators.

With the camp being so successful, it is hoped that it will be repeated next year to coincide with the Commonwealth Games.  Well done to Donna Crowther for all her hard work!

Selection Success for Brandon

Menzieshill Whitehall Swimming & Water Polo Club member Brandon Buchan has been selected for the Scottish National Para Swimming Squad following an excellent few months of results.

This is a massive achievement for Brandon who has the potential to be selected for the Commonwealth Games 2014 and the Para Olympics in Rio 2016.

Congratulations to Brandon & good luck for the coming year!!
