Kanzen Karate Entertain at the SportDundee AGM

The SportDundee AGM took place at City Chambers on Wednesday 28 May 2014.

Following the business side of the meeting, those in attendance were entertained by members of Kanzen Karate.  The junior members, led by instructor Roy O'Kane, gave a fantastic display highlighting the skill and intensity of the sport.  This was followed by a display from Daniel Woods, the current European Champion.

A huge thank you to the members of Kanzen Karate for their efforts and to the staff at City Chambers for hosting the meeting and providing a buffet and drinks.

Retrospective PVG Checks

This information has been received from The Safeguarding in Sport Team:

Just another brief reminder that we are now half way through the dispensation time for Voluntary sector organisations to ensure that all employees,( paid or unpaid) involved in Regulated Work with Children and Young people are members of the PVG Scheme.

Organisations have until end October 2015 to complete their retrospective checks. Many organisations are well up to date with processing these retrospective checks and working closely with VSDS on a programme to completion within the timescale. Please keep up the good work.

Should your organisation not yet carrying out Retrospective Checks, you are strongly advised to contact VSDS (01786 849777) immediately and discuss how to get the process started. It will become an offence to have someone who is barred from regulated work doing such work for your organisation. The only way to be certain is to ensure everyone in regulated work is a member of the PVG scheme.

Please note: once you are happy that all your retrospective checks have been carried out you should advise VSDS immediately so that your allocation of checks can be given to another sport and thus make the system more efficient for everyone. Many thanks for your cooperation in this exercise.
