Healthwatch Wandsworth Responds to Your Feedback

You Said, We Did
Our chats with local members of the community are only part of the work that we do. Once we've collected your feedback and listened to your concerns, we then meet with senior council officers, hospital staff and voluntary sector organisations to see what can be done to improve matters.

Below is a list of just some of the actions that Healthwatch Wandsworth and local service providers have recently taken as a result of your feedback.
You said that service users with learning difficulties and mental health problems, and their carers, should be involved in the care needs assessment and feel confident to ask questions and challenge decisions taken on their behalf.
----------------------------------------------------------------
You said you wanted to know more about the finances of our local hospital, St George's.

----------------------------------------------------------------
You said our Enter and View team should visit care homes, extra care facilities and GP surgeries.

----------------------------------------------------------------
You said you want a counselling service for young people in schools or in a neutral place, and you want support for stress (during exams), anxiety and depression.
----------------------------------------------------------------
You told us about cases of poor treatment in health and social care settings.

----------------------------------------------------------------
You said that it would help you if Sheltered Housing Officers (SHOs) and health and social care professionals communicated better.

----------------------------------------------------------------
You told us we should talk to all parts of the community.

----------------------------------------------------------------
You told us our role is to influence the commissioning and provision of services.

----------------------------------------------------------------
We collated your stories and submitted them in response to the 'No Voice Unheard, No Right Ignored' consultation by the Department of Health.

----------------------------------------------------------------
A presentation on St. George’s financial situation was given at our last public meeting, and we gave you the opportunity to ask questions.
----------------------------------------------------------------
We have now completed our programme of visits to care homes and are in the process of setting up Enter and View research projects at GP surgeries and extra-care facilities.
----------------------------------------------------------------
We have informed the commissioners who are designing this service what you want.

----------------------------------------------------------------
We worked with the Wandsworth council's Safeguarding Team and health and social care managers to make sure these cases were followed up and investigated.
----------------------------------------------------------------
We raised this with both health and social care commissioners. Because of this, more information on the role of SHOs will be made available to GPs, care agencies and other health professionals.
----------------------------------------------------------------
We have carried out 24 outreach sessions over three months and spoken to around 250 local residents.
----------------------------------------------------------------
20 Healthwatch representatives have spoken up for patients on 36 groups, boards and committees over a three month period.
