How your voice is
making a difference

Part of Healthwatch Wandsworth's role is to talk to local people to find out what they think about local health and social care services.

Once we get your feedback, we don't just file it away - we talk to local service commissioners and providers about what you've said and, where necessary, try to get them to change the way they provide these services.

Below are just some of the changes that Healthwatch Wandsworth and local service commissioners and providers have achieved together, as a result of what YOU  told us about them.
Health Visiting Service
From October 2015 the management of the Health Visiting service transferred from the NHS to local authorities. You said that the health visiting service is important to you so we gave local families the opportunity to help shape the new service

We consulted with 150 local parents and published a report which is being considered by the commissioners who are designing the new service specification (click here to read our report)
Extra Care Schemes
You said that as one of our priorities we should look into the care and support that older people receive at Extra Care facilities
We visited three Extra Care schemes for older people in Wandsworth and will send our reports to service providers and commissioners to make sure that they understand the user's experience of these schemes
Healthy Food for Young People
You said that young people eat too much junk food and should have access to healthy alternatives
We spoke to 130 people who helped us to identify 'healthy alternatives' to junk food and sent our report to Wandsworth's Public Health department
Nine Elms Development
You said you wanted to learn more about the new development and the potential implications for current and future residents

We organised an information and engagement event on the provision and accessibility of health services in the Nine Elms development area
Suicide Prevention
You said that awareness of mental health issues should be increased and the stigma associated with suicide reduced
We consulted with vulnerable people in the community and included their comments in a report which will be sent to Wandsworth Council to form part of their Suicide Prevention Strategy
Changes to Primary Care
You said that you wanted to learn more about the upcoming changes to primary care services
We organised an event to inform you about the new models of care, including GP Hubs and changes to primary care commissioning
