MomSource Network growing to five cities with addition of Austin and Tampa

MomSource NetworkBy Tom Ballard, Chief Alliance Officer, PYA

Knoxville-based MomSource Network is expanding into two new states today.

Courtney Jones, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the three-year old company, is launching new offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL tomorrow. They join Knoxville, Chattanooga and Nashville in the growing network focused on meeting the flexible scheduling needs of individuals in the workforce while also serving employers.

“We’ve grown to 11 really good people and have solid processes in place,” Jones says. “Now, we’re going to test the system by expanding to cities that are not within easy driving distance of Knoxville.”

Jones founded the company to help professionals find jobs that match more with their schedules, something she learned firsthand after returning to the corporate world following a break for motherhood. She had an employer who accommodated her need for flexibility, but that is not the same situation that many individuals experience.

As noted in our first teknovation.biz article on the then named MomForce Network, Jones was primarily focused on mothers returning to the workforce, although she did serve men and even retirees.

MomSource Network added a second city with Chattanooga in late 2014 and expanded into Nashville in June of 2015.

“Nashville is our largest market by far,” Jones says. Employers in the rapidly growing city need dozens of employees at a time, unlike Knoxville and Chattanooga where the typical request is for one or just a few.

In a first for the company, Jones has tapped a man to serve as Managing Partner of the new Tampa office. Kevin Hooks is a former employment attorney who relocated from Atlanta to Tampa, worked as an HR Consultant in Atlanta and then in Florida, and found several of his clients asking for his help in recruiting employees.

“Kevin wanted to open his own employment agency with a special niche,” Jones says. MomSource Network provided that opportunity.

In the case of Austin, the company’s Managing Partner is actually someone associated with MomSource Network in Nashville.

“Brendalyn Cokal is a Texas native who spent 18 years in Austin and who relocated to Nashville recently,” Jones says. “We recruited her as our number two person in Nashville because the market is so big.”

Cokal will split her time between Nashville and Austin as the latter office gets established. Jones sees Austin, well-known as both a technology and entrepreneurial hotspot, as an ideal location for the company’s services.

Those who know MomSource Network’s Founder would no doubt agree that Jones is not afraid to take chances and try new things.

“The success of these two new cities will determine our future direction,” she says.
