Gifted education expectations around UIP clarified

Gifted education requirements are available for districts completing a district-level Unified Improvement Plan (UIP). Resources regarding eligibility to apply for Universal Screener and Qualified Personnel grant funds are also available.

UIPs On Watch or Priority Improvement or Turnaround due Jan. 15

Schools and districts on watch or with a Priority Improvement or Turnaround plan type must submit a UIP for CDE review by Wednesday, Jan. 15.  Feedback on the plans will be available through the online system in early March.

New resource available on local flexibility for educator evaluations

A new Local Flexibility for Educator Evaluation webpage is available for districts/BOCES to learn more about areas of differentiation and efficiency that can be used within local evaluation practices.

This resources provides practical ways to find time, differentiate evaluations, maximize measures of student learning/outcomes and engage stakeholders as part the educator evaluation process. Promising practices about innovative evaluation practices across Colorado are also available.

Register for workshops on teaching English learners

Workshops are available through CDE's Office of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education about teaching math and science to English Learners. 

The Teaching Math to English Learners workshop will be held Friday, Jan. 31, in Ellicott. Register via Eventbrite.

The session on Teaching Science to English Learners workshop on Friday, April 17, in Ellicott. Register via Eventbrite.

Apply for K-5 Social-Emotional Health Pilot Program

The new K-5 Social-Emotional Health Pilot Program will fund a team of mental health professionals in every pilot program school to provide support for young students and their families.

Education providers, on behalf of schools serving elementary students, are eligible to apply, specifically school districts, BOCES and charter schools. Applicants may request up to $500,000 per year of the three-year pilot program. A recorded application webinar is available via Zoom. Applications are due Friday, Dec. 13.
