School Nutrition Program applications will open in the Colorado Nutrition Portal very soon. CDE’s School Nutrition Unit is working closely with our technology vendor to ensure system functionality allows for a smooth application process. Resources and training will be available on the How to Apply webpage and announced in the Dish. A renewal application training will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12. Registration information is forthcoming. Keep in mind:
Sponsors participating in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) will first apply for the school year 2020-21. Once the 2020-21 application is approved, sponsors will reapply for the school year 2021-22. Important application data will roll over and less data input is required in the 2021-22 application.
Sponsors participating in the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program or sites offering the Afterschool Snack Program will apply for the school year 2021-22.
Do not make any changes in the 2021-22 school year at this time.
Throughout the application process, sponsors can contact their assigned point person for program related questions and support with the application, reviews and training and technical assistance needs.
On July 14, the U.S. Department of Agriculture released a consolidated Questions and Answers memo, which includes guidance to clarify program operations during the school year 2021-22. For more information about school year 2021-22 operations, visit the back-to-school guidance webpage.
School District's fiscal year 2020-21 Financial Data Warehouse reports are now available
The Financial Data Warehouse Sub-Recipient Report is a listing of payments from CDE to each school district/Board of Cooperative Educational Services during the 2020-21 school year. School districts and BOCES typically use this report to compare payments received by the district during the fiscal year to ensure that the payments were coded appropriately. In some instances, there may be timing differences due to year-end entries; this is OK as long as the district can explain the differences. View the Financial Data Warehouse Sub-Recipient Reports for fiscal year 2020-21 now. The reports may also be accessed from the CDE School Finance webpage under “Revenue reports and check figures” on the lower right hand side (in the Data Pipeline section).
School Nutrition was recently awarded a USDA Farm to School Grant, which is designed to improve access to local foods in eligible schools through comprehensive farm to school programming that includes local procurement and agricultural education. To achieve this goal, School Nutrition will provide sub-grant awards to eligible School Food Authorities and provide technical assistance to support SFA sub-grant plans focused on local procurement, agricultural education and best practices for increasing meal quality.
