A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far to our Christmas Appeal to spread some Christmas joy with the present of bikes to kids in need!

So far we have been able to give an extra 10 bikes this Christmas to kids in need... for example

Chloe, a Student Support Officer at the Cook School, works with kids from disadvantaged backgrounds who may have mental health and other issues.

She was able to surprise one of her students with a very exciting Christmas gift!

Your gift of just $80 this Christmas will enable us to collect, restore and test a children’s bike that we will donate to a child who has had a tough time in 2022 – a child who support workers like Chloe are helping, a child who has fled a warzone such as Ukraine perhaps, a child who has had a tough year, and has never known the pure pleasure and freedom of riding their own bike.

Because every child deserves the simple delight of a bike!

Dear Friend

This year we have so far donated 300 bikes to children in need and with your help we want to donate another 50 to children over the holiday season.

Your Christmas gift of $80 will fully fund the cost of:
* The Revolve ReCYCLING driver taking the ‘Beast’ (our specially modified Ute) to collect a no longer wanted kid’s bike (or scooter), diverting it from landfill
* Our dedicated and skilled mechanics overhauling, repairing, refurbishing, and safety testing the bike until it is as good as (and sometimes better than) new!
* We will then donate the bike to a child who would not otherwise experience the simple joy of riding their own bike

Your $80 gift will result in a happy Christmas and summer for a child who’s done it tough this year. Revolve ReCYCLING has this year donated bikes and scooters to children fleeing the war in Ukraine, and to other refugee and asylum seeker children, as well as to Tribal Warrior working with disadvantaged aboriginal children in the inner city, to schools where children have been affected by floods or fires, and to other kids in need.

Andriy’s story

“Andriy loves his new white scooter” (right) donated by Revolve ReCYCLING which
- besides the colour - is just like his prized blue one (left) he had to leave behind when he fled his home in wartorn Ukraine.

As the Russians invaded, Andriy and his mum Inna, had to farewell not just Andriy’s
father and big sister, but all their possessions including Andriy’s much loved, prized blue scooter.

Once the Revolve ReCYCLING team heard about Andriy and his dream for a new scooter like the one he had to abandon in Kyiv, they got to work, checking all incoming scooters until we found the perfect match!

Soon, a perfectly restored scooter - just like the one Andriy had in Ukraine except white - was handed to Andriy and he was scooting around with joy!

Your gift of $80 will help us donate a bike to another child like Andriy who has experienced things no child should experience.

‘Wheels for Good

Lately, Revolve ReCYCLING has each month been dropping a batch of repaired children’s bikes to Tribal Warrior, which mentors Aboriginal young people.

We also work with Tribal Warrior to show children how to maintain their bikes.

Today we also delivered children’s bikes to two schools near Lakes Entrance in Victoria, an area impacted by bushfires, in partnership with AusCycling, the peak cycling body in Australia.

With your help – please donate now - Revolve ReCYCLING will deliver bikes to kids who need them most, in families and communities where they are most needed.

Extensive research has outlined the positive relationship between bike riding, public health and social equality.

For example, some findings from international ‘bikes for development’ work:

• · Students provided with bikes were 19% less likely to drop out of school

• · Donated bikes reduced school absenteeism by 28%

• · Young recipients of bikes reported feeling more in control of the decisions affecting their lives

• · Girls with donated bikes experienced 22% less sexual harassment and/or teasing on their way to school
