Bring Out Your Best By Running For CFHAS
Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope
Nov 4th and 5th
As a Friend of Canadian Friends of Hopital Albert Schweitzer (CFHAS), I am sending this message to participate with us in the Road2Hope walk/run and to consider asking your friends/relatives, colleagues to join in for this fun event by participating themselves or by sponsoring you or another participant.
CFHAS is a charity partner with the Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope and we are looking for people of all ages to run or walk in one of the events. When the weather cooperates, this is a great day and even when it doesn’t, we are still out in the fresh air raising money for an exceptional cause. Additionally, high school kids can earn volunteer hours for the time they spend fundraising, running or assisting with logistics on one or the other or both of the days of the event.
You can view the Canadian Friends of HAS team page here: Team HAS or visit www.hamiltonmarathon.ca. You can register here. Note that registration fees vary depending on what distance is being walked/run (ie 5K - $50, 10K-$55, ½ marathon - $85,full marathon $100).
While the on-line registration process is fairly straight forward, some parts of it are not completely intuitive. “Questions” section where you are asked questions about the charity you are supporting. When you get to the “Questions” section:
• Answer “Yes” to the question “Are you running for a charity?”
• Select “Canadian Friends of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti” as the charity you will run/walk for
• Answer “Yes, to the question “add this registrant to a team created by someone else?”
• Select “Friends and Family” as the “Team Category”
• Select “Canadian Friends of HAS Haiti” as the team you are joining.
If you have questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org

100 Holes for Haiti
On September 12th 2019, the 17th annual "100 Holes for Haiti " took place at the Beverly Golf and Country Club in Copetown Ontario. Despite the rainy morning all golfers had a wonderful and busy day attempting 100 holes of golf. A wonderful dinner and door prizes capped off the evening.
The proceeds of this special day are divided between Canadian Friends of Hopital Albert Schweitzer who support the Maternal and Child Health Care Program at HAS and the Joy and Hope Of Haiti who build and support schools inter north of Haiti.
NEWS FROM HAITI
For most of August and the beginning of September there was a fuel shortage in Haiti that brought many businesses (including hospitals and health clinics) to a standstill not only due to the lack of fuel (hence no generators for electricity) but also due to the many demonstrations, road blockages etc as the population protested against the lack of fuel. However, due to careful planning and economical use of its fuel reserve HAS was able to continue tending to those coming to its doors for care as well as the influx coming from other health facilities. The doctors, nurses and other staff members worked around the clock doing the utmost to ensure everyone received the necessary care and attention. Your donations CFHAS help make the continuity in this life saving care possible. Thank you!.
