Summer Classes for Adults

SUMMER CERAMICS June 28 - July 26 (no class 7/5)
Tuesdays 6 to 8pm (Session 1)
Instructor: Megan Holtham
This class is designed for all levels to explore the many wonderful possibilities of clay. Students will be introduced to simple hand building techniques to create beautiful tableware, as well as a chance to experiment on the pottery wheel. 
Fee: $110 (members $100) + $25 materials fee.

FUN-DEMENTALS of DESIGN July 12 - August 9 
Tuesdays 6 to 8:30pm
Instructor: Heather Lewis
Through collages, mosaics, textiles, pastels, water color, pencils, rubbings, printing, painting, and more, explore the “FUN”dementals of design by playing with lots of different materials and techniques! Each class meeting we will explore a different design element. Supplies and dinner included (pizza & salad) bring your own beverages.
Fee: $185 (members $175)

Wednesdays 1 to 4pm
River Tree Art’s faculty, Russel Whitten, will be taking us through the steps to create an iconic ocean scene on sight in our beautiful, local surroundings. Watercolors create a vibrant and fluid painting style, perfect for all levels of experience. Join Russel every Wednesday or drop in as your schedule allows to experience life as a Plein Air Painter! 
Fee: $135 (members $120) 
Fee per class: $35 (members $30)

COACHING FOR CREATIVE PEOPLE July 13, July 27 & August 10
Every other Wednesday, 2:30 to 5pm
Are you in a rut? Has it been way too long since you’ve picked-up a paintbrush, or a camera, or whatever your thing is? Do you want to, but are resisting, stepping-out of your comfort zone creatively? You’re not alone! Help is on the way! In this exciting and powerful forum, professional artist/teacher/coach, Heather Lewis, facilitates a small group of creative folks (4 to 6), where you will learn how to identify and better manage aspects of your creative life. Bring a notepad and pen.
Fee: $85 (members $70)

1-Day Workshop, Saturday 9 to 3pm
Instructor: Alice Carroll
Use metalsmithing tools to form, shape & create your own designs. Hammering, polishing, wire wrapping & hot/cold process soldering will be the main focus of class. Torches and bezels will be used. Make earrings, pendants, wristband, rings, dog tags (necklace/ID or actual dog tag) during this 5 hour workshop. 8 student maximum. (We will take a lunch/recreation break halfway through class. Students are advised to pack a lunch.)
Fee: $65 (members $60) + $25 materials fee

Instructor: Heather Lewis
If you love to draw and want to develop your skills and gain a little more confidence, this class is for you! Working in the studio, and out doors when possible, you’ll learn age old techniques from the Masters to draw what you see. All skill levels are welcome! Materials list will be provided.
Fee: $120 (members $110)

Thursday June 30

Tonight we will explore ways of altering old weathered boards to create beautiful personalized signs. Enjoy this tactile experience by displaying your favorite quote or song lyrics in a visual way. Students will use paint and basic hand tools to customize their own sign. Hanging hardware will be provided. Bring your BF and a bottle of wine and make it a creative night out!
Fee: $25 per student OR $45 for two

Thursday July 7

Awaken your senses with Barbara Fraser as she shows us how to mix essential oils to create therapeutic blends that serve to de-stress and heal ourselves. Meditation, hand massage, and breathing techniques will be demonstrated and all students will leave feeling rejuvenated with their own special blends created during the workshop.
Fee: $25 per student OR $45 for two

Thursday July 14

Leave this party with your own authentic full size lobster buoy. RTA faculty Megan Holtham will use nautical themes and colors as your inspiration to design your very own buoy. Sketch, design and personalize your buoy however you’d like with sharpie markers and good company! All supplies provided.
Fee: $25 per student OR $45 for two

Wednesday July 20

Join us for our third annual Summer Sing Series! An evening of songs from jazz to Broadway, this concert features River Tree Arts students, faculty and special guests. Suggested donation $5. All proceeds will benefit the Performing Arts Programs at RTA.
