OCEAN VIEWS July 8 to August 5
Refreshing and original, local artist, Heather Lewis masterfully captures and interprets the natural world around her, infusing it with a certain emotional vibrancy in her paintings. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, and beautifully restored 19th century farmhouse and barn studio, Lewis’s world of rolling farmland and dramatic ocean scenes is a constant source of influence for her art. This exhibit is open to the public and will be on display in the Irvine Art Gallery at River Tree Arts, 35 Western Ave. Kennebunk.

SUMMER SING July 20, 7 to 8pm

Join us for our third annual Summer Sing Series! An evening of songs from jazz to Broadway, this concert features River Tree Arts students, faculty and special guests. This program will take place in River Tree Arts Performance Hall. Suggested donations of $5 will benefit the Performing Arts Programs at RTA. FMI call (207) 967-9120

Last week, several of River Tree Arts students had the unique experience in participating in the celebration of the Brick Store Museum's 80th birthday bash. Well done to: Matthew and Catherine Sullivan, Grace Archer and Maggie McEwen for making it an inspiring event for all!

Students: Emma Flores, Maya Flores, Aberdeen Brickett, Emily Hansen, Catherine Sullivan will be signing in Port Opera's production
CARMEN: Opens July 27th at the Merrill Auditorium.

Voice student: Donald Frost will be appearing on Main Stage at the Ogunquit Playhouse in the production,

FOR KIDS
July 11 to July 15, 9 to 12pm
WORLD OF WONDER: A Multicultural Arts Program for Kids! For grades entering 1+
“WOW” will explore the stories and cultures around the world through theater, music, art and movement. We will study pantomime, improvisation, group art projects, dance, yoga, drumming, and wind instruments. In addition to encouraging creative thinking and expression, this enriching program helps develop team skills, literacy and self esteem. Fee $145 (members $130)

July 13, 9 to 2pm

METALSMITHING FOR TEENS INTENSIVE For ages 12+
Use metalsmithing tools to form, shape & create your own designs. Hammering, polishing, sawing, filing and soldering will be the main focus of class. Each student will create a piece with a bezel set stone in it.  Make earrings, pendants, wristband, rings, dog tags and more during this 5 hour workshop. Fee $50 (members $45) + $20 materials fee
 

July 19 to July 21, 9 to 12pm

BALLERINA CAMP For grades entering 1-3
Aspiring dancers and true beginners will start of each morning with a ballet lesson in front of the big mirror with Miss Angela. In addition to dancing, students will create ballet crafts such as, fairy crowns, ballet wall art & necklaces, and ballet-inspired story time to end each day. The last day of camp will end with a special tea party- bring your favorite doll, teddy bear or stuffed animal to join in the tea party fun. Fee $85 (members $75)

July 19 to July 21, 9 to 12pm
CREATE YOUR OWN WORLD For grades entering 1+
Using art supplies and recycled materials, each student will make their own character and build a home for them.  As a class we will then work together to create our own unique world by combining and exploring our characters and their homes.
Fee $85 (members $75)

July 19 to July 21, 1 to 4pm
FANTASY PUPPETRY & JUGGLING For grades entering 1+ 
Learn the basics of juggling and make your own colorful juggling balls. Create fantastic characters and bring them to life through masks and puppets. We will combine everything we make and learn into a final performance. 
Fee $85 (members $75)

 

FOR ADULTS

July 13 - August 3, 1 to 4p.m.
SEASIDE LANDSCAPES WITH WATERCOLORS
RTA faculty, Russel Whitten, will be teaching us how create iconic ocean scenes inspired by our local surroundings. Watercolors create a vibrant and fluid painting style, perfect for all levels of experience.  Join Russel every Wednesday and experience life as a Plein Air Painter! Fee $135 (members $120)


July 14, 6 to 8pm

DIY Maine Lobster Buoys
Leave this party with your own authentic full size lobster buoy. RTA faculty Megan Holtham will use nautical themes & colors as your inspiration to design your very own buoy.  $25 or 2/$45


July 21, 6 to 8pm

Clay Night!  
Dare to get a little messy in this clay workshop! Demonstrations and step by step instruction will be provided to guide you through this creative workshop in RTA’s ceramics studio. $30 per student. 


July 28, 6 to 8pm

Up-cycle Sewing
Have a fun night out with the girls and create something new with clothing you loved by UP-CYCLING it! Amy DesRoberts will guide you through this fun workshop as you repurpose an otherwise forgotten about gem into a new bag! All levels welcome. $25 or 2/$45.
