From our friends at The Sienna Symposium

Can we all just get along?
Totalitarian Temptations in Free Societies and the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Dear Friends – As you may have heard, the Siena Symposium is holding a very important conference on Monday, November 4th. We have invited two prominent Catholic intellectuals to consider two questions critical to the future of our civilization and clearly in dispute in contemporary culture: Why is the free and open exchange of ideas necessary for the pursuit of truth and human happiness? Which vision of the human person can serve as the foundation of a truly free and just society? To make it possible for everyone to come, there are sessions in both the afternoon and the evening. We are also hosting a dinner for the friends of the Siena Symposium that day; the reception starts at 5:30 with dinner to follow at 6:00. It is a kind of fundraiser so registrations are required. The details of the day – and a link to the dinner registration page – are below.

I truly hope you will find time to join us…
Your sister in Christ,
Deborah

PLEASE JOIN US AS TWO CELEBRATED CATHOLIC INTELLECTUALS CONSIDER
THE QUESTIONS AT THE HEART OF OUR COMMON LIFE

  • Why is the free and open exchange of ideas necessary for the pursuit of truth and human happiness?
  • Which vision of the human person and of community life can serve as the foundation of a truly free and just society?

Professor Ryszard Legutko will offer his analysis of our contemporary political context and the risks it poses to freedom of thought and expression.
(Professor of Philosophy, Jagellonian University, Krakov, Poland, Member of European Parliment)

Father Spitzer will argue that the antidote to such dangers is a coherent account of the human person.
(Past President Gonzaga University, President Magis Institute, Host of EWTN's Father Spitzer's Univere)

There will be a special dinner for the friends of the Siena Symposium at 5:30 pm. To register for the dinner or for more information, click on the link below
