Lady Autumn
Welcomes in the Season!
October 2019 Newsletter

Tucson Arizona has the best weather in October here, however, was almost to the point of question as the summer was extra hot and went on pretty late this year. The last couple of days put all that doubt to rest. Fall was late elsewhere. We usually go to Colorado to see the leaves in September and we did go this year for a short trip but was very disappointment in that not even one tree had turned yet.

We are well into our fall/holiday event season. Promoters, both private and organizational, and the sellers, work diligently getting ready to put on the best event they can for you  Be sure you take a moment and tell them how much you appreciate them. A little kindness goes a long way.

Things That Go Bump in the Night

Posted September 26th, 2019 in Dolls

Images of Halloween and otherworldly creatures abound on antique and vintage postcards. These make a great backdrop for Halloween doll displays.

The Halloween practices enjoyed by many today sprang from ancient and deep-rooted practices meant to honor the dead and protect the living. The Celtic festival of Samhain celebrated the end of the harvest and the start of the new year on November 1st. Tradition held that on the night of Oct 31st the veil between the land of the living and the land of the departed was lifted and the two could mingle. Bonfires were lit, animal costumes were donned and symbolic sacrifices of the harvest were made to appease the dead and bring favor for the coming year.
