Hello *|MMERGE10|*,

As September turns to October the migration season has well and truly set in. While reports of Pied Cuckoo are declining somewhat, sightings of winter migrants, like Common Sandpiper and Barn Swallow, are on the increase. More than a hundred species of migratory birds were observed in September by MigrantWatchers from 18 states. The warblers -- particularly Hume's and Greenish -- have made their debut for the season. Western Yellow Wagtails have now joined their cousins the Grey and White Wagtails. Waders are thronging the wetlands and shores. The list is expected to grow in October, so please do keep on logging in your observations on MigrantWatch!

As always, our blog also has some new and interesting posts for you. Please don't miss our series summarizing the 2012-2013 migration season in terms of contributors, geographical break-up, and species records.
