Dearest Chorus,

What a year! I hope you’ve all found ways to keep singing. In fact, I don’t doubt it - you’re such a dedicated and enthusiastic musical bunch! I’ve had many ups and downs with zoom “rehearsals”, and sung a lot of nursery rhymes to my son, but didn’t hear didn’t hear any actual live music at all until last week, when I was Assistant (back-up-in-case-of-Covid) Conductor for the London Symphony Orchestra’s digital Christmas concert recording. I admit I shed a little tear when they started playing ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’… Many of you know Simon Halsey, who was the main conductor. Sadly for me but luckily for him, he stayed well!! Wonderful to hear the orchestra play though. Gosh, how I miss singing with you all!

As I’m sure you know, the whole Music Centre was on furlough from the first lockdown until the start of this week. We were so excited about getting back this month, and looking forward to being able to make some stuff HAPPEN! But of course, this has coincided with the announcement of a new national lockdown, and we’ve just heard the news that we’re being furloughed again until the start of December. Sigh. I miss you all terribly, and can’t wait until we can gather to sing and chat and laugh together again. In the meantime, please stay well and safe and don’t let the music stop!

Lucy xxx
