We are getting back on the court to host the Triangle Wheelchair Basketball Camp July 17th and 18th. This 2-day skills based camp is open to youth with disabilities that qualify them to play in National Wheelchair Basketball Association events. This camp was a success in 2019 with youth coming from all over North Carolina and even out-of-state.
Akeem and Miles are excited to help this next generation strengthen their skills and level-up their game.
Please spread the word to any teams or players you know.
Our 2021 camp is made possible through a grant from The Hartford as part of its Ability Equipped® program and generous use of the Taylor YMCA facility.
Excited to welcome Veteran athletes from around the country- including Puerto Rico! - to Durham this weekend to get back in the games.
Day 2 of our 'Summer of Valor Games SE' will include competitions in boccia, air rifle, and archery...and, of course, a lot of camaraderie and fun.
Look for photos and a recap in next week's Update.
VFC Hiking Coast to Coast and
North to South
We are BACK IN THE USA for Veteran Fitness Challenge #10!
For 5 weeks, VFC athletes will be hiking a route taking them around the whole country ‘visiting’ 47 different national parks virtually along the way.
Athletes are working collectively to complete each of the 5 legs of the 15,000 mile trip- one leg starting each Saturday. We will be adding up cumulative DAILY MILES of ALL participants from their Fitbits to make it to our next destination. Since starting on June 12 at the Grand Canyon, 110 athletes have logged a total of 1930 miles and are headed to Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas!
There will be plenty to see on the hike with fun facts, photos and updates about the parks we pass through posted in our VFC Community FitBit feed by Bridge II Sports staff. Athletes are encouraged to post photos and memories of their own ‘real life’ visits or give a shout-out when we travel through their state.
Join the VFC! Open to Veterans with physical disabilties.
In the spirit of Respect and Honor, and for our collective safety, we are asking all participants and volunteers who have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to wear a face covering while engaging in Bridge II Sports programs.
Likewise, in the spirit of Respect and Honor, those who have been vaccinated, please respect those who choose to wear a mask. There are a host of medical issues that may not allow someone to have the vaccine at this time.
If you are asked to place a mask on your face if working closely with one of our Bridge II Sports family members, please do it.
