Family Promise of Coastal Alabama has a lot to be thankful for. We were able to reach much needed families and provide hope, support, and a safe environment because of your unwavering generosity. THANK YOU!
A Pandemic

A pandemic? Mask? Quarantine? At the start of 2020, many of us were preparing for a fresh start, graduations, Mardi Gras, family gatherings, weddings, etc. Unfortunately, many of those joyous occasions came to a sudden halt. Schools were closing, jobs shutting down, states on lockdown, our everyday routines nonexistent. The idea of an endless isolation from family and friends became too much to grasp. COVID-19 crippled America causing an exponential amount of deaths and unemployment. Countless families lost their jobs, homes, or were on the verge of losing their homes. How can we still serve?  Family Promise thought of ways to be proactive even in the midst of the pandemic, state restrictions, limited program operation, and an overwhelming fear of the unknown. We were determined to still deliver quality case management, support, and shelter while ensuring the safety of our families and staff. We are proud to say that we were able to assist a mother who is immune compromised in one of our transitional homes. This relieved stress by guaranteeing her family a safe and stable environment. We were also able to help eleven families with emergency hotel stays. Six of the eleven families are now in permanent housing, one referred to another transitional housing program, and four reunited with family and friends. Numerous families were provided gas, food, clothing, access to showers and laundry, Christmas gifts, and referrals to other community resources. At Family Promise, we remain committed to our mission of ending homelessness one family at a time! Read "My Story" below, told by a resilient mother determined to provide a better life for her and her children during the pandemic with the help of Family Promise.

My Story

Before coming to Family Promise, I was living in an environment that was not the best for me and my son. I decided to leave that environment and relationship. Not only did this derail my plans, so did the pandemic. I was unable to provide like I imagined. At this point, I'm six months pregnant, caring for my two year old son, and we are living in my car. We were living there for about two to three weeks before our lives changed. I am extremely grateful to Family Promise for giving my family a support system and a safe environment. They were willing to listen and help when I felt others did not. Since leaving Family Promise, I can proudly say I am independent and my kids have a clean, safe, and stable home. I am excited to see what the future holds. A future that includes owning my own home, a childcare facility, and watching my boys grow up.  Thank you Family Promise for your continued support and generosity.
Christmas at FPCA
Christmas at Family Promise is always a great time of year. We look forward to the smiles, laughter, and just pure joy. For our families Christmas can be extremely stressful but at FPCA we seek to make the impossible, possible. This year was no exception! In spite of COVID-19, we had an overwhelming outpouring of support resulting in a brighter Christmas for over 40 children! We are so thankful for our volunteers and the amazing organizations, companies, and individuals that donated. We are beyond grateful for your boundless generosity!
