Happy Holidays!

Thanksgiving has come and gone and the Christmas holidays are just around the corner. This time of year, we acknowledge our blessings and I give my thanks and gratitude to all of you, my special art collectors, friends and family.

It has been over 1 year since my last newsletter! I was hoping to do this 3-4 times a year but time flies! I did tell you that I wouldn't bombard you with tons of email stuff!
Every year, I create mini paintings for the holidays. They are small, 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 and up to 5 x 7.  They are priced for holiday gift giving or a special treat for yourself.     I added some new angels this year with different themes. And I do love the shore birds along the beaches!

Many of my larger paintings are here for the winter.

I decided to install some smaller (5 x 7 and up to 11 x 14) paintings here for the holiday show. This has been a good decision as I keep having to replenish the wall!

Some of my latest paintings....

Corner Of Broad And Church Streets
oil on canvas
24 x 30

One evening, as I was leaving the gallery, I turned the corner on Broad Street and was, thankfully stopped the red light, but the beautiful glowing sunset is what stopped me in my tracks.
The streets were alive with people, the shop windows were glowing and the sunset reflections set a beautiful lowcountry scene. I had to paint it!

This painting has also received an award from Jerry's Artarama's Charvin Summer 2014 Painting Contest. It was one of 10 Honorable Mentions!

Wide Awake Plantation Art Show
Hollywood, SC
March 2014

It was a beautiful spring day in March where 5 artists were a part of this special one day event. It was held at the Old Wide Awake Plantation home.  We had lots of people, food and wine. A great day for an art show!
If you don't know about the Old Wide Awake Plantation, you can check it out here. Beautiful setting for a wedding or any special event!

Charitable contributions....

Morris Island Lighthouse
palette knife oil on panel

Every year, I participate with a couple of my favorite local charities to raise some funds.
Extra $$$$ is always good!
One that is dear to my heart is the Morris Island Lighthouse, Save The Light event. Actually there are several events during the year. At the celebration event, there is a silent auction where attendees can bid on something special for themselves and Save The Light Foundation gets a little extra cash.

Another event that I participated in this year, is the
Feline Freedom Association, Mardi Paws 2014, helping free roaming cats. They had a fund raising auction event this year.

My new studio toys!

Here are a couple of photos of some of my new toys this year! I acquired a new easel! One with wheels that rolls nicely on my studio tile floor! And it has a hand crank to raise or lower the canvas. Although it is new to me, it is one that another artist had no more use for. My hubby and I frequent estate sales and this is one of my estate sale treasures!

And, I have a new traveling paint box, called a pochade. A pochade is a compact box that can carry all the supplies an artist needs.  It is perfect for local traveling but this one is not small (I have new ones for that too made out of cigar boxes).  It mounts to a tripod, has 3 panel holders for panels or canvas, has a place for the palette to set safely in and another place for shelf to hold my brushes and mineral spirits and a large enough bottom to carry most of my supplies. And the best part about it is that no one else has one like it! I designed it and my talented and creative hubby built it for me in his workshop. And it's perfect. Great for workshops or a day painting away from my studio.

In the press...

It's a beautiful magazine with lots of information about Charleston.

So, what else has Rosie been doing...

Every year volunteers from CAG help the children of Pattison's Academy Summer Camp create works of art.  It is really rewarding for everyone involved.  We paint on pillow covers and canvases and they proudly present their artwork to their family. These works are truly treasures. Shown here is a portrait of me! Isn't it beautiful?
For more photos and information, click here.

I also worked with the fine children at Chicora Elementary School helping them with Eagle Eye Art Project but don't have any photos of that!
A side project of mine..... Learn to paint with online videos!
Last newsletter, (October 2013) I announced a new project I have been working on. I have been in collaboration with my friend and art mentor, James Pratt on his
ONLINE PALETTE KNIFE PAINTING ACADEMY! We have been videoing, editing,  painting, writing, posting the lessons online. I'm happy to report that the program has been a success and we look forward to creating more educational videos for those wanting to learn to paint with a palette knife. You will complete a painting with these lessons.
