New European Agenda for Adult Learning

EAEA is happy that the new agenda recoqnises the need for holistic adult learning and education provision. However, there should be adequate support for infrastructure, funding and civil dialogue in adult learning. Read EAEA's statement: New European Agenda for Adult Learning for Europe’s future

2021 Education and Training Monitor

The 2021 Education and Training Monitor focuses on well-being in education. According to the report, many Member States are planning to use the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) for upskilling and reskilling adults. EAEA recommends that RFF should be used to promote holistic approach to lifelong learning. Better wellbeing for adults could be achieved for example by investing in social skills, health literacy and learning environments. Stable funding is a necessity particularly when planning effective measures to reach vulnerable learners.

Well-being in learning brings return on investment

"Well-being will be one of the cornerstones in the work on adult education in the next decade", said Eva Perme from Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU at the Lifelong Learning Interest Group meeting 1 December. The meeting focused on the many linkages between well-being and learning. "We need a second enlightenment on digitalisation"

EAEA Annual Conference 17-18 November examined the power dynamics, inclusion and exclusion in digital space. Developing technological skills should not be instrumental, "just teaching excel", rather it should be incorporated into existing cultural practices. Adult educators should also master new generation pedagogics for the competent use of the digital in education. New Grundtvig Award publication

The publication presents all the 21 candidates for the EAEA Grundtvig Award on democracy and digitalisation, including the winners GEMMA and DIGIT-AL and the highly commendable initiatives Digital Skills Passport and Smart Adult Education.

DIMA 2.0: Building the capacity of adult education providers

After two-year journey that engaged more than 200 European practitioners in ALE, the Dima 2.0 project is launching the final outputs of the project: policy recommendations, a toolkit and a self-learning platform. DIMA 2.0 project has supported adult education providers and adult educators in designing more effective learning pathways to adults with low skills. All the outputs are available on the DIMA 2.0 website.

SAFE: Planning a board game on safe spaces

Safe spAces For lEarning (SAFE) has evaluated the first results of focus groups on safe spaces. The project is developing a board game that will invite participants to reflect on safe spaces. New website, will also be launched soon. 

Bildung partner meeting

#BildungALE project explores the political and practical potential of the holistic Bildung-concept in European adult learning and education. The partners gathered to the first face-to-face meeting in Girona in November.
