My job requires me to travel a lot so I always pack at least one pair of runners wherever I go. From the banks of the Thames to the sidewalk-less roads of Bermuda, as long as there is an open road you will find me running.
My race pick is......

Oasis Zoo Run

Date: September 20, 2014
Distances: 5k, 10k
Race Type: Road

Why I like it: This is once of the races that I look forward to the most.
For the sixth straight year, this race doubles as the Canadian 10k Championship and this year's field includes top marathoners Eric Gillis and Lanni Marchant. As the name suggests, the course is located inside the Toronto Zoo. Even though this will be my first time running this race, I know it will be special because this year also marks the inaugural 10k club championships. I will be running for the Toronto Beaches Runners Club in the Fastest 5 men combined category.

Whatever the results, I am pretty certain that few races are able to offer as much interesting scenery as the Oasis Zoo Run.

**Editor's note: We know that this event is sold out this year, but keep it on the calendar for 2015!

I love sharing running with people. I believe the best moments happen when the resultant of ambition and hard work is a 'broken down barrier'.

My race pick is......

Ontario Masters Cross Country Club Series

Date: September 28, 2014
Distances: 5k
Race Type: Trail

Why I like it:  For runners looking for a different challenge this fall, I recommend trying the Ontario Masters Athletic Cross Country Series. Cross country offers athletes the opportunity to experience the camaraderie of competing with a team, as races are run for both individual merit and team title. An additional bonus is the break your joints will get from slapping the pavement, since cross country races are generally run on soft, grassy surfaces.

Social Media Director by day, runner by night, wine enthusiast always. If you can't find me running the streets of Toronto or sipping a crisp Chardonnay, try Twitter.

My race pick is....

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon

Date: October 19, 2014
Distances: 5k, half-marathon, marathon
Race Type: Road

Why I like it:
This race has a special place in my heart. I ran my first half marathon at this race in 2011 and my first full marathon in 2013. I also plan to go back again this year for the half marathon. That's not why I love it though. I love it because it's fast and flat. It's a great race for beginner runners looking for a non-intimidating route or for seasoned pros chasing that personal best. Also, the weather in Toronto in October is usually perfect for this race. Sunny, but cool. The perfect racing conditions.

The other thing I love about this race is the personalized bibs. Rather than a random number on your chest, your name is in big block letters. You honestly can't help but hold your head a little higher wen spectators cheer you on by name along the race route.
This year is the 25th anniversary of this race, so there's lots of special attention on the annual event. In addition to an impressive roster of elite athletes at the front of the pack, this year's race medal features Honest Ed's, a famous Toronto landmark. Definitely a nice piece of hardware to add to your collection!
