Jump for Joy! Photo Project
Showcasing the beauty of the human spirit - in mid air - around the world
Quote of the week:
"...if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." - Henry David Thoreau
*** ALOHA! Exciting news for me this week... I just arrived in Kaua'i, Hawaii today! My dear friend Anna picked me up from the airport and brought me straight to an incredible beach.. and of course, I just had to jump for joy immediately when I hit the sand :) Anna has kindly arranged accommodation for me and has also lined up some local Hawaiian jumpers to jump for joy with me in some breath taking locations. I can't wait to get started and to share the photos... Thanks Anna!
*** My last week in Vancouver I had a great time as always and had the pleasure of doing jump for joy photos during a stunning sunset at 3rd beach in Stanley Park with Zara Durani. went on a wandering adventure through Vancouver with Brandi Leifso, and shot the adorable Bella, her mom Ria and a couple more of my lovely sister Ahbyah at Sunset Beach. I was hoping to set up a Vancouver group jump with all the people who jumped for joy with me in Vancouver, but the timing didn't work out so I will have to set one up at a later date :)
*** If you live in Kauai and would like to set up a jumping shoot while I am here (September 16-26), please email me at: email@example.com. I'm already looking forward to creating fun art with you!! :)
Featured Jumper of the week: Meechelle Neal!
Meechelle Neal ... From: I was born in Edmonton, grew up in Victoria Live: currently live/work in Vancouver. Work: Actor
Q: What inspires you to want to jump for joy?
A: Any time someone rises above their perceived limitations, any time there is an act of kindness, any time I am with my friends/family/partner and whenever I am creating (especially collaboratively).
Q.What was your experience like doing the jumping photos? How did you feel?
A: I felt like I was on fire, like I could actually jump really high and working with Eyoälha was so much fun! It's amazing how much I enjoyed jumping over and over again with her words of enthusiasm and encouragement pushing me. It truly was a joyous experience :)
Q: What inspires you in life?
A: True human connection.
Q: What is/are your greatest passion(s) in life?
A: Acting and writing are my greatest passions because they make me turn myself inside out, to breathe life into characters and to delve into psyches different than my own.
Q: What is your driving force in life?
A: I want to create a better world because I believe we all have the capacity to leave this place better off than when we got here.
Q: What is your philosophy in life?
A: It's not who you are, it's what you do.
Q: If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?
A: I would get paid to act full-time because I am happiest when I'm on set working as an actor. I am definitely working towards that goal by being a part of many different projects with almost all of them paid-gigs these days.
Q: What work/art/projects are you working on?
A: I currently have a short film in post-production and two in pre-production. I am filming a music video with the amazingly talented David Blair and I am the most proud of a short film I wrote/produced/starred in called 'Therapy' as seen on the NSI Film Festival: Meeshelle Neal.
Q: Interesting facts about you or something special you want to share.
JOY! WHAT MAKES YOU JUMP FOR JOY?
A: I used to be a lot harder on myself. Over time I have learned to love my imperfections as they are what make me unique and interesting.
The photos Meeshelle were taken at Sunset beach near English Bay, Vancouver BC Canada.
