Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
When I saw the project on KickStarter, I thought, "what a fantastic project". It's something that captures the joyful side of people. Even if it's only a very small moment in time, all these people in the air look genuinely happy.

Q. Jumping photo experience?
It was a lot of fun! I don't spend enough time appreciating the beauty of the city in my go go go lifestyle.

Just walking around, looking and exploring places to jump gave that little bit of time to pause and appreciate.

Q: Inspiration in life?
When I was starting out in my career, it was about success in the financial sense and climbing the social ladder. When we started our company, it was about survival, garnering respect and hopefully achieve some financial success. The last couple of years though, I realized that the company was no longer about me, it's about the team and the people that have helped us and had faith in us. That was when we started to really rock it, when my motives were no longer self centred. Our team is now what inspires me.

Q: Greatest passion?
I am volunteering as a mentor for the Futurepreneur (formerly CYBF). I am very excited about this as I see it as a way I can pay it forward by sharing everything I've learned as well as motivating young entrepreneurs. My passion is seeing people succeed. Whether this is with someone on my own team or someone outside with the drive, it is absolutely exhilarating to see someone step up and go after their dream. And it is even more exciting when I get to have a small role in helping them achieve this.

Q: Driving force?
Have you ever envisioned yourself on your deathbed thinking about the things you regret in life?

My biggest fear is that I haven't realized my potential because I was too scared to try. When we started BlueBat, we literally started it from scratch. No capital, no connections, no team, just two scared shitless ex-programmers with absolutely no idea on how to run a business. Our driving force at that beginning was to pursue success in spite of that fear. To defy that fear. My driving force nowadays is to make some sort of contribution in a meaningful way, something that is outside of myself.

Q: Philosophy?
That fear is the only thing that ever truly stops us from going for what we really want in life.

Q: Anything in the world?
A: I'd love to go into space some day. Haha. Actually, I'm pretty much doing what I love now. 4 years ago, entrepreneurship was just something I thought I'd give it a try. I didn't realize how hard it would be, but I wouldn't trade that journey for anything. I've grown so much as a person because of it.

What I realize now is that the most satisfying thing in the world is to be able to contribute. For me personally, it's that I get to shape, build a team, provide jobs and contribute back a little bit to the Vancouver community.

Q. Working on?
The "project" I'm working on is our business. We don't normally think of business as art, but in my opinion, running a business is very much an art form. A business is always fluid. There are so many decisions/choices we make day to day that affect future outcomes in ways that we sometimes cannot foresee. It's also exciting because there is always a little bit of luck and serendipity at play.

Q: Mini bio, interesting facts about you or something special you want to share.
I used to be terrified of public speaking. When I say terrified, I mean petrified to the point of knees shaking, voice cracking, out of body experience type of horror. I knew that if I didn't over come this fear, our company couldn't win. Not only that, I couldn't lead the team effectively, nor could I lead myself.

Ironically, a big part of my role now is to present and speak at conferences. What's interesting though is that I'm still scared shitless every time I step on stage. But I've learned that I don't need to be fearless.

I can be afraid, but do it anyways.

This realization brought out my true self that was no longer controlled by fear. My true self can go, and be, and achieve despite feeling fear. When I was no longer controlled by the fear of rejection nor the fear of judgement, my mindset just naturally switched from a sense of entitlement to gratitude. And I feel like I'm one of the luckiest persons alive! :)
