Support Our Voracious Readers

Help us get more high quality literature and non-fiction books into the hands of our scholars by donating to our DonorsChoose campaign!  This will help us reach two of our key goals: that 100% of our students are reading at or above grade level by the third grade -- a critical benchmark in the reading life of a student -- and that they develop the love of reading that sustains long term success and intellectual curiosity. Thanks in advance for your support!

Family Time

We had an amazing time welcoming families to our first Back to School Night last month.  Scholars gave their families a tour of the school and parents learned from teachers about the classroom schedule and the school's curriculum and culture.  We had a fantastic turnout, and we're so grateful for our supportive families.  We can't do this without you!

Schedule a Visit!

We have been excited to host a number of visitors recently and would love to have you see our teachers and scholars in action.  We will be hosting tours over the coming months, so click here if you are interested in scheduling a visit.

Get to Know the Team

Name: Wendy Soref

Role: Director of Curriculum & Instruction

Where were you before Springfield Prep?  In the classroom working with our youngest learners! Before joining the team at Springfield Prep, I worked as a 1st grade teacher at Elias Brookings Elementary here in Springfield.  Before that, I worked at Brooke Charter Schools in Boston as an early childhood educator and administrator.  I started my teaching career as a Teach for America corps member in Hughes, Arkansas.

Why did you decide to join the Springfield Prep team? I couldn't resist the opportunity to start a brand new school that would give kids in Springfield the best possible academic start.  I've learned so much from my colleagues and students at every school that I've worked at, so it is extremely gratifying to share what I've learned from ten years in the classroom with our incredible team of teachers and staff.

Anything else?
I am passionate about literacy.  I truly believe that reading makes all of our lives better.  This belief drives so much of my work developing literacy curriculum, coaching teachers to differentiate based on students' reading levels, and using assessment data to target students needs.  Right now we are working to ensure that we have plenty of books to support our curriculum and to spark our students' love for reading.  Please consider donating to our DonorsChoose campaign which is linked below!
