New online poetry exhibit in celebration of poetry month.

 Poets and the Past

In 2016 Norwich Historical Society asked seven local poets to browse through our collections, find something that captured their imagination and compose a poem about it. The results are as varied and surprising as the lives and times that inspired them.

We have put the poems, artifacts, and artist statements online in celebration of National Poetry Month. Some of the poems even have recordings of the poets reciting their poems.

Thank you Norwich!

Our thank you to the voters of Norwich for supporting Norwich Historical Society's funding request. Your support means that we are able to open the Lewis House to community groups free of charge (over 25 community groups meet here throughout the year), provide programs to Marion Cross students (this year we have worked with grades 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6), offer a wide variety of programs and exhibits, and care for Norwich's remarkable heritage.

AN EVENING OF STORIES WITH PETER GOULD

Horse Drawn Yogurt is a book of stories about Peter Gould's decade on Total Loss Farm in Vermont.  Peter moved to Vermont during the 1970s back-to-the-land movement and turned all the living, eating, smoking, dancing, loving, and gardening into stories. He writes of locals and newcomers helping each other during a pivotal moment of history, and how young people new to the land learned how to tend gardens and farms, while belonging to a international peace and justice movement against the Vietnam war.
