News from the
Norwich Historical Society

March 2013

Thank you Norwich for voting to support the Historical Society's $8,000 appropriation. You always respond generously to our requests for support. Year-end gifts also make up a big piece of our annual operating budget. If you have not yet made a gift to the annual fund you can do that here. We are grateful to this generous community and we look forward to another great year preserving Norwich's history for generations to come.

Currently on exhibit

Even though it's winter, we are open for visitors Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am - 3pm and other times, too, by appointment. In fact, if you see a car in the driveway, don't hesitate to knock on the door! We are always glad to welcome visitors to the Lewis House. So plan to stop by to see the newest exhibit of the Hutchinson and Loveland family portraits. These two prominent families were among Norwich's earliest settlers and over the years they both contributed a great deal not only to Norwich but to the State of Vermont. Read more here.

New Trustees

We want to welcome new Trustees Bambi Chapman, Mary Ryan, and Gail Sanders, and to welcome back Mike Woods who continues to serve the Society so well as Treasurer. And special thanks to outgoing Trustees MJ Clark, Susan McGrew, Doug Rexford, and Susan Voake. During each one's tenure on the Board, they contributed a great deal to their Trustee responsibilities and we are grateful to them for their hard work and dedication.
