Foundation Programs

2017 Summer Arts Academy:  Registration is NOW OPEN for the 2017 Summer Arts Academy.  This is the Foundation's 7th year to sponsor this program.  There are 11 programs being offered this year.  Space is limited in some programs, so sign up early.  Application and Program descriptions have been posted on the foundation's web site, please click here:

Al Martin was named the Washington County Business Person of the Year at the 18th annual Washington County Business Awards Ceremony.  Among several other of his community accolades, he was recognized as our
Foundation Board's President.

New Summer Arts Academy Instructor for the Guitar Program
Guitarist Keith Filppu has over 10 years of teaching and performing experience. He holds a Masters degree in Guitar Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory and a Bachelors degree in Guitar Performance from James Madison University. He teaches students of all levels and ages at Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown, VA, the Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy in Winchester, VA, and here at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts. Mr. Filppu can frequently be heard performing in the Winchester area at concerts and private events both as a soloist and in the chamber music setting as Cedar Creek Duo with his flutist wife. In addition to his teaching and performing, Mr. Filppu is a published author, arranger and composer. Some recent highlights of his career include performing the world premiere of “Song in Mountain Pool” by renowned composer James Park in September 2014. In 2012 one of Keith’s original compositions was premiered at Yale during the annual Guitar Extravaganza. His solo guitar and flute/guitar arrangements have been published by ClearNote publications.
The Barbara Ingram Foundation has a non-paid student internship position this summer from June until August. The starting and ending dates are flexible. The candidate would work 10-12 hours a week. They would not work on Friday. The candidate would learn the fundamentals of a non-profit organization. Duties would include but not limited to: writing press releases, organize paper work, assist in the Summer Arts Academy, research grant opportunities and update alumni lists.

Foundation Fundraising

The Foundation has sponsored the Summer Arts Academy since 2011.  Under this program the Summer Arts Academy welcomes students in grades 7-12 from all areas in MD, VA, PA, and WV to participate in programs such as Rock Band Orchestra, Dance, Guitar, Piano, Vocal, Creative Writing, Musical Theater, and Visual Arts. 

A sponsorship will help to provide the funding for guest speakers/master classes and other materials needed to enhance this program. If you are interested in being a sponsor for the Summer Arts Academy, please clink on the form below to print a copy to fill out and send in. 
The Barbara Ingram Foundation will once again be participating in
Washington County Gives on May 2, 2017.

Abby Flitton received an honorable mention in Illustration for her scratchboard illustration entitled, I Am a Rock.
Congratulations to Sydney Bak and N’Kai Delauter who won 1st and 2nd place, respectively, in the Tri-State Civitans Club: Disability Awareness Art Contest.  In addition to having her artwork displayed on the digital billboard on the dual highway Sydney received $250 and N’kai $150.

Cumberland Valley Artists & Photographers Exhibition - The Cumberland Valley Artists & Photographers Exhibition at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, opened with a reception on Sunday January 29th.  Twelfth grade student Emily Mutchler and eleventh grader Armand Martenot both have photographic works in the show.
