Dear RSGB Member

I'm Mike Jones, 2E0MLJ and am the newly appointed Youth Coordinator for the Society. I'm writing to you today to get your opinions on some things we have planned for the forthcoming year and if you would be interested in any of them. By showing an interest you are in no way committing yourself to apply or come to any of these events. It's just so we can get a feel for the sort of numbers we are looking at and whether there's any point in organising these events.

  • Youngsters on the Air 2015 DX (YOTA)
YOTA is an event that's been held in Bulgaria, Estonia and Finland in which young people from all over IARU Region 1 come along and do some fantastic activities throughout the week. It'll be an international event that is mainly funded by the Society and IARU. There's the chance for up to four members and a Team Leader to take part on this trip
  • Youngsters on the Air 2015 UK
This YOTA event is somewhat like the international event but is held in the UK instead and is over a weekend. In YOTA weekend there has previously been activities like SOTA beam building, ARDF and satellite operation workshops. There's not really a limit on the amount of people than can come to YOTA UK but if we have a rough figure it'll help with the planning of it all
  • NEW - 2015 Isle of Man DXpedition
This is a brand new and exciting opportunity for young people to take part in a week long DXpedition to the Isle of Man in July/August time. Throughout this week there will be many activities including SOTA activations, working satellites, ARDF, general radio playing and we'll try and get some other cool stuff in there! We are seeking sponsorship to help cover the costs but participants will need to make a contribution—further details to follow. This is an exciting opportunity for eight to 10 young people.

Thanks for taking your time to read this email and any response would be much appreciated. If you have any suggestions of any other things you'd like to see us do then please get in contact.

Best wishes
