Simply Testable Updates #42: Plans and Pricing Released Unfinished , HTTPS Enabled
June 5, 2013
|You're receiving this email because you joined Simply Testable's updates list.
This is the 42nd of weekly progress updates on the development of Simply Testable, a brand new automated web frontend testing service providing one-click testing for your entire site.
Highlights from this week:
Pricing and plans page released
Pricing and plans released unfinished
Features page released
I mentioned in last week's newsletter that I'd be intentionally releasing the incomplete pricing and plans page that I'd been working on.
Last Friday I did just that. You might be wondering why I released the pricing and plans page when it was incomplete. There are two reasons.
I wanted to release all these changes together and initially thought I would have to wait until the option to subscribe to premium plans was ready. The more I thought about this the more I saw that this isn't always the case.
No-one can subscribe to a premium plan if there are no pricing and plan details. No-one can subscribe to a premium plan if there is only an unfinished pricing and plans page. No difference there.
You can't tell if the service is the right fit for your needs or the needs of your business if there are no pricing or plan details.
With an unfinished pricing and plans page you can make out the current (approximate) pricing range, with the personal plan at £19 per month at one end of the scale and the enterprise plan at £299 per month.
With an unfinished pricing and plans page you can see the plan names (personal, agency, business and enterprise) and from this you can gauge the target audience for the service.
With an unfinished pricing and plans page you can tell if the service is approximately a right fit for your needs of the needs of your business.
That was my thinking in releasing the pricing and plans page in the state it was.
Features page released
At the same time as releasing the pricing and plans page I released a new features page.
Currently this details the types of automated tests available and the options available to you.
Whilst not fully-featured, this is certainly better than nothing!
HTTPS has now been fully enabled for simplytestable.com, www.simplytestable.com and gears.simplytestable.com.
By fully enabled, I mean not only that HTTPS is available but also that if you visit a non-https url you will be redirected to the https equivalent.
You can read more about how I went about doing this in a recent blog post I wrote describing how to configure Nginx to use a multiple-domain secure certificate.
I'm currently working on some maintenance tools to reduce down tests that were started before the free trial limits were put in place to make them conform to the current free trial limits. This allows me to remove a large amount of redundant data so as to significantly improve the performance of the backup process.
Once that is complete I'll work solely on integrating with Stripe (our payment provider) and implementing the ability to subscribe to and upgrade/downgrade between the available premium plans.
As always, if you'd like to see web testing you find boring handled automatically for you, add a suggestion or vote up those that interest you. This really helps.
