In order to deliver a variety of content to your mailbox, we are always open to recieving a variety of information straight from the source - you!  We want to tell the very best of Think & Eat Green through our web channels, and we can only do so with the help of Think & Eat Green members who are 'on the ground,' engaged in the amazing work of this community-university research alliance.

The deadline for applications has been extended until January 12, 2014 for Sow It Forward grants!
From the web (thanks to Vanessa for sharing this via the Vancouver School Food Forum):

"SIF is the grants and partnership program of Kitchen Gardeners International. The grant is for nonprofit causes or organizations interested in starting or expanding food garden projects that are of general benefit to their community. For our next round of giving, we'll be offering 100 full grants and roughly 50 partial grants.

- The partial grant has a value of $325 and consists of a $300 cash grant and $25 one-year subscription to our online garden planner (these are the only grants available to applicants outside of the US).

- There are no geographic limitations on what types of food garden projects will be considered.
- The application deadline is midnight (Eastern Time) Sunday, January 12, 2014.

Garden ProD Event February 21st 2014 at Spectrum Learning Centre!

Are you a teacher who has worked on a project funded by a TEGS Small Grant? Spectrum is looking to hear from you!

TEGS school Spectrum Learning Centre is looking for "teachers who are willing to share their gardening experience in a one hour workshop on Feb 21 VSB district ProD in a collaboratively formatted day long program.

Your workshop topic can address anything that you have learned in creating and maintaining a school garden using your TEGS grant; for example it could be about a successful crop or activity; your experience with maintaining a garden through seismic upgrading or connecting the garden with larger food issues/curriculum.
 Please contact Shirley Turner at if you are willing to present with a topic title."

This is your chance to visit with Spectrum's chickens and follow up on the intriguing one minute reports from TEGS speed conversations!

The Farm to School Greater Vancouver Group has released this short article on the opportunities & challenges that come along with feeding the fifty-six thousand + students in the Vancouver School district healthy, sustainable, and affordable food.
