Evening Rounds: RECAP
Evening Rounds is a free monthly speaker series profiling health care communications research & speakers! November's Evening Round was presented by UBC PhD candidate Ana Crisan on data visualization. Ana discussed the strengths and weaknesses of visualizing data and applied it to visualizing patient risk.
Data Visualization was broken down into 3 steps: What-Why-How.
- What? (Data): What kind of data is being visualized?
- Why? (Motivation): why do you need to visualize data?
- How? (Visual and Interaction Design): How is data being visualized?
Check out the Evening Rounds website for a complete event summary, including quick tips for designing data and visualizing patient risk.
UBC Contingent at the National Forum
Last week, IHI UBC joined 6,000 healthcare professionals at the 28th annual IHI National Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care. They shared their ideas through poster presentations, collaborated to gain ideas for IHI UBC, and, took part in effecting real change in health care quality and safety.
