Dear Friends,
We come to you with heavy hearts for our SIM Niger colleagues and many Nigerien friends and neighbors.
Some of you will remember that Niamey (the city where we live) suffered from devastating flooding back in 2012. Well, yesterday, after weeks of battling the rising waters, the Niger River has again breached the dike. As a result, Sahel Academy and the local Bible school that SIM partners with are underwater. A number of our SIM colleagues live on those two properties and are now being relocated.

While this situation is very difficult for our missionaries, it is even more so for our Nigerien neighbors. Many of them have seen their houses collapse in front of their eyes, and are now homeless and have lost income from gardens as well. This is so devastating for everyone.
Pray for:
- wisdom, strength, emotional stamina, and safety as people rescue personal belongings as well as school supplies.
- God's people to find ways to share His love with those most affected.
- the SIM Niger Crisis Management Team as they plan for the days ahead.
- local authorities that they can find ways to meet the needs of their people.
- the leadership of Sahel Academy as they were scheduled to start school next week.
In many ways, we wish we were back already, so that we could be helping. However, God knew this was coming and has chosen to keep us here for now. We're still hoping to return in another month or so.
Thank you for praying.
Jonathan and Bonnie Moore
