A Contemplative Circle: Reflecting on our Inner Life (drawing on Parker Palmer’s bestseller, A Hidden Wholeness: The Journey toward the Undivided Life) is a place to explore one’s inner life with others through readings, poems, symbols, story and conversation.

Drawn from ancient and contemporary wisdom, it is a deeply spiritual approach to identifying our ‘inner landscape’.

Throughout the year our outer landscape, such as ocean, mountain, desert, forest and the seasons will be used as metaphors and images of our inner life.

All welcome.

News from the WellSpring Board

We thought you might like to hear some of the things the WellSpring Board is currently working on.
  • Meet the Board: have a look here for photos and bios of most of our Board members.
  • Listening to the stories of WellSpring: Last year we had an Orientation Day for Board members when people from WellSpring came to share about their area of interest. This was a wonderful day! This year the Board is inviting people to attend Board meetings throughout the year to do the same thing. This has been an inspiring and encouraging way of listening to the stories of WellSpring.
What are We Doing?
  • Building Bridges: Tim McCowan has indicated that he will step down as Director of Building Bridges this year. We are currently looking for a new Director and will be advertising shortly. It is exciting to see Building Bridges commencing in Perth next term.
  • Organisational Health Check: Late last year Moores Legal conducted a free Health Check on WellSpring as an organisation. This was very comprehensive and provided a prioritised plan for ensuring legal compliance and good practice.
  • Current activities from that plan include updating the Constitution which no longer complies with the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 (Vic), and implementing updated policies e.g. Privacy and Grievance. Due to its complexity, we will be working with Moores on the constitution and will bring an updated version to our members for acceptance sometime soon! It is great to have Ben Norman as our most recent Board member with his experience in Business Strategy
  • Strategic Plan: We are working on a new strategic plan for the coming three years. A real joy in this process is the conversations of discernment with people in each of the key areas.
  • How are we going? As the end of first semester accounts are being finalised, Connie, our treasurer, reports that WellSpring finances are in good order and balance.

Leave Dates

WellSpring Director, Ann Lock, will be on annual leave for the week beginning 14 June, and then on study leave from 27 June until 9 July. During those times, any urgent matters can be directed to:

Last month WellSpring curated the Quiet Space at the SacredEdge Festival in Queenscliff. It was wonderful to have artwork from Liz Johnson to make an old storage room into a beautiful space.

The festival was an extraordinary time of story telling and listening to a wonderfully diverse group of people. Rachael Kohn from The Spirit of Things (Radio National) was one of the guests and talked about the festival on her Radio National program, The Spirit of Things, last Sunday (to be repeated tomorrow, Wednesday 8 June at 9.05pm). You can also hear it online here.

I (Ann) especially enjoyed Mariam Issa’s inspiring thoughts about contemplation, community and her faith.

WellSpring is grateful to Fiona Pfennigwerth for granting us permission to use her beautiful illustrations of Australian nature in our advertising. Fiona's books, The Scrolls Illuminated and The Gospel according to John Illuminated are available through WellSpring.
