Circles of Trust
Wednesday 20 November, 10am to 12.30pm
(Facilitators: Chris Page and Marg Loftus)

A ‘circle of trust’, based on Parker Palmer’s A Hidden Wholeness: The Journey toward the Undivided Life, is a place to explore one’s inner life with others through readings, poems, symbols, story and conversation. Drawn from ancient and contemporary wisdom it is a non-religious yet deeply spiritual approach to identifying our ‘inner landscape’. Throughout the year our outer landscape, such as ocean, mountain, desert, forest and the seasons will be used as metaphors and images of our inner life.

This is an open group and all are welcome to attend.

Cost: $20
(Pay on day).

Advent Quiet Day
Saturday 23 November, 10am to 3pm
(Facilitator: Michael Mosley)

A Season of ‘Waiting Upon’: Michael Mosley will lead our Advent Quiet Day reflecting on Advent as a season of ‘Waiting Upon’.

The invitations within Psalms 46, 122 and 139 and Isaiah 2:4 will provide themes for our reflections, as we wait upon God’s revelation to us.

Click here to book and pay securely online.
(Cost: $35)

Advent Journey: Walking with God
Tuesday evenings, 26 November to 17 December, 7.30 to 9.30pm
(Facilitator: Merrill Kitchen)

This series will follow Matthew’s reflection on Jesus’ links with the story of Israel. Looking back at that story, we will consider the way in which ‘the Word is always waiting to be born.

(Cost: $35 per session)

Art Exhibitions

The Amen Collection – So Be It:

“Why do I make art? I hardly know why myself. But I do know I love doing it, that it satisfies some deep place within me, and often times it shows me something about my own life. It is a way of praying. Essentially it is for myself, however now I am happy to share what I make, though hesitantly, with the hope others may be encouraged to have a go, find joy in their own creativity, and maybe experience it as prayer. Enjoy, wonder, reflect.” (Mary McCowan)

Full Circle:

Any artists or craft-loving contemplatives around the churches are welcome to submit a piece that will be hung in WellSpring during Advent. Details/entry form can be downloaded here.

It is a fundraising project but also a reflection on Hope: in unlikely places, our theme for the lead up to Christmas, and a joint project between WellSpring and Ashburton Baptist Church.

Art of Contemplative Practice:
A Formation Program for Everyone

This unit explores the foundational principles of contemplation and its relevance to our life, work and ministry contexts. The formation program will draw on the various contemplative elements of:

  • inner silence
  • solitude
  • Sabbath
  • prayer practices
  • listening
  • discernment, and
  • the human experience of God

Participants will be invited to reflect on these aspects of contemplation and their impact on their developing awareness of God in their everyday life experience.

This unit can be taken as a stand-alone unit, either through Sentir (a college of the MCD University of Divinity, with WellSpring as one campus), with FEE-Help available for eligible students, or by auditing directly through WellSpring.

This unit is also a pre-requisite for the Art of Spiritual Direction Formation program

For more information or to apply, please click here.

Applications close on 16 December 2013.

Can you help?

Volunteers:

WellSpring welcomes volunteers! There are many ways of being part of WellSpring – volunteering is an opportunity to share your time and gifts in this life-giving ministry.

If you would like to be involved – ‘upfront’ or ‘behind-the-scenes’; regularly or for special projects – Ann would love to hear from you by email or on (03) 9885 0277.

Attic chairs:

The chairs in the attic need some loving attention. If anyone has some time and skills to sew some seating covers and do some handiwork in strengthening the chair frames, we would love to hear from you! Please email Ann if you are able to help.
