5 April 2017

Over the last few days, I've heard several people say, 'Isn't it hard to believe that it's already April?' I agree – where does the time go?!

With the end of daylight savings, however, it does starts to feel somewhat tangible that one third of the year has already passed.

The WellSpring Poetry Day yesterday, facilitated by Elizabeth Lee, was on the topic of Changing Seasons.

Though I was personally unable to attend the workshop, I was particularly touched by one of the poems Elizabeth chose to share with the group, and I share it with you now:

Love’s Weave

Once at dusk
when all was still around the well
save for a restless gum tip here and there
I felt Your hands weaving the delicate pattern
of Your love into my being
and I wanted to cry.

– Noel Davis
Heart Gone Walkabout

May you all know the delicate pattern of God's love woven into your being in the month ahead.

New Rules of Association for WellSpring
(previously known as the Constitution)

In 2016 the Board realised that the original WellSpring Constitution no longer complied with current legislation for Not-for-Profit organisations.

This prompted the Board to engage Moores Legal to facilitate the rewriting of the Constitution to ensure legal compliance. During this process the Board has consulted with the deacons of Ashburton Baptist Church, who are in agreement with the changes in governance between the two organisations.

Rules of Association and Summary Sheet
The revised Constitution, now called the ‘Rules of Association’ (‘Rules’), and a summary sheet of the key changes, are available here.

The acceptance of new Rules is an important step for an organization, so the Board will be available at WellSpring on Sunday 4 June for the opportunity to clarify the changes over a shared lunch.

After the forum on 4 June, any further questions about the Rules may be sent to board@wellspringcentre.org.au before 12 June.

This process will be followed by a Special Meeting on Sunday 16 July 2017 from 1 to 3pm, for members to vote on the acceptance of the Rules.

According to the current Constitution, only members who have paid their current subscription are entitled to vote, and all votes must be given personally. Voting cannot be given by proxy.

2016 Annual Report

Thank you to those WellSpring members and friends who attended the Blessing Day and Annual General Meeting on Sunday 19 March 2017.

The Annual Report for the 2016 year is available to download from this page of our website.

NB: As there were errors in the Financial Report, this has been removed from the Annual Report. The revised Financial Report will be made available through this link as soon as possible. We will advise you when the new version is available to download.

Changes to the WellSpring Board

We are pleased to welcome two new Board members and to confirm the continuation of one Board member who has been re-elected to the position.

  • Maria McCormack has been newly elected to the Board.
  • Tess Veenker has been re-elected for another term.
  • Ben Norman is our new Treasurer.
  • Philippa Thomson is continuing as Secretary for the time being
Thank you to Connie Mogg and Dianne Taylor who have finished their terms with the Board.

This is a retreat at home, through a week of guided prayer and spiritual direction at WellSpring.

How it will work:

Participants will gather togther on Monday 22 May for an introduction and welcome session. They will be given guidance for their own individual prayer throughout the week, and a spiritual director will be arranged for each person, who will journey with them each day through that week.

Finally, we will gather as a group on Friday 26 May to end the journey together.
